Next Elder Scrolls will be on next gen systems right?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:33 am

I feel as though Skyrim is an amazing game but the system hardware on the XBox 360 is just showing its age.

I really hope they shoot for next gen systems for the next Elders and blow us away like they did with Oblivion.

I think that will probably be the case. We'll hopefully get a few good sized dlc for Skyrim. Then they'll probably get another in the Fallout series in the way of Skyrim.
By that time the next generation will be out.

Yea I guess seeing another Fallout game using Skyrim Technology would be pretty awesome but next gen tech is where Elders needs to go next for sure.

With the job ads that have emerged lately, I'm guessing Fallout 4 will be next-gen.

It could go either way. The next Fallout should be out in 2 years and I expect the next consoles to be out around that time as well. However developing for unreleased consoles is a [censored] if we are to believe howard on Oblivion's documentary. Something about how 2 months before the X360's release they stil didn't know whether it would get 256mb of RAM or 512 MB, which would determine if they could release it with the current graphic settings in mind.

So many developers choose to first wait out the release and continue to develop for lastgen/current gen consoles, and port to the nextgen systems if possible. So maybe Fallout 4 will be developed for both. Either way the next TES will certainly be for the next gen systems. Unless TES Online is out first, in which case the next TES will be PC exclusive

Most likely. If Bethesda follows the 4, 5, or 6 year development timeline that they've unofficially set for them selves, then yes the next Gen of systems will be here years before the Elder Scrolls VI drops.

That means they'll have more than enough time to fully use the new tech and capabilities of the next gen of consoles.

Yes, it will DEFINITELY be on the next generation. Todd said that they originally planned to wait until the next console generation, but they thought they could do one more game on this one. That means they're almost guaranteed to wait until the new systems come out for the next TES game

Exactly.

Because shortly (a couple of months) after Todd said that, the manufacturers let it out that they were actively working on the next gen of consoles. Which means that more than likely work on the next Elder Scrolls has paused until they get some form of development kit for the next gen's tech.

It'd only be logical.

Hopefully.
Only way I will buy another ES game is if it's n a genuinely new engine that isn't a broken piece of software.

Don't expect too much of a graphical upgrade for the next game. The consoles are reaching their limits.

The next Fallout should be out in 2 years and I expect the next consoles to be out around that time as well.

The Wii U is coming out this year. Since that's a next gen console the next generation of consoles is going to start later this year.

There are reports that beta devkits for both the next MS and Sony consoles are already out.
(which would be logical, since the number of job offers asking for next gen developers are actually increasing a steady rate)

....sigh...
For a significant number it is broken.. For a majority it isn'r but that doesn't mean that a significant number of people are entitled to complaining...
Calling them Bro..does not really help in assuming a neutral standing.

Bethesda is not making it. Also, it takes place a few thousand years in the past so it will have little to no impact on the next single player TES game.

Oh. I didn't know that. I thought there was to be no more single player versions. I saw a bunch of people complaining about how the company was selling out the 'lore' and turning into WoW and how it would be strictly PC since console companies won't sign on to moorpgs. That's a relief if true.

Yeah, I see alot of complaining about it too. TES:O isn't going to affect the main branch of TES whatsoever. It's not even being made by the same game studio. TES is mainly a single player RPG and will always stay that way. Think of TES Online as seperate branch and not part of the main series.

Just as Final Fantasy has branched off games from the main series, as well as two MMOs. They continued to create the single player ones and that was the main concentration for them. Alot of companies do it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the next TES was a next-gen Xbox exclusive.

Ever read the story of Chicken Little?

Anyways, the MMO is being produced by Zenimax Online Studios. It also, as I said, takes place some 2000 years before the single player games. I believe it takes place in the 2nd Era while Skyrim takes place in the 4th Era. So, the MMO should in no way impede Bethesda Game Studios from moving forward with the single player series. If anything, they'll be able to draw upon the lore written for the MMO to enhance and further enrich the single player games.

It wouldn't surprise me if the next TES was a next-gen Xbox exclusive.

I'd say that is about as likely as the MMO killing the single player series.

That's like saying the Model T is still an acceptable car. It works(sort of), but the tech it uses is ridiculously outdated
If Bethesda was smart, they built the Creation Engine with the next gen in mind.
Umm, how the f*** could they do that? You can't build a car engine for a car that you don't have any clue what the design of the car is. In the same way, I'm pretty sure that Beth couldn't have built the Creation engine for a system they have no specs for

It's extremely doubtable that the next game won't be next gen. The next game won't be out for a few years.

Probably because the next gen consoles will be very similar to current gen PCs. The next Xbox will likely be running DX11 (like current PCs), unless Microsoft suddenly comes out with DX12. And DX12 would likely be compatible with DX10.1 and later. Other than that, the next gen is likely going to consist of little more than faster chip sets and more cores. All of which current PCs have over the current consoles. So really, it's not that hard.
