A Night to Remember... Really? That was Debauchery?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:47 pm

You know, I carried that thing around for weeks and never actually used it. I suppose it would suit a mage character best.
It's not really much better (if any) than a flame atronach if you're a mage. I always thought it would be good for a warrior. :) Maybe it's just not that good for anyone.

I loved that quest! Maybe you have to do it on a low level character. I had to fireball the giant until he ran away, then snuck in, got the goat and ran like hell. I was LOL'ing so hard. Much more inventive than Oblivion's go to a shrine + do a quest + get your thing.

And Sanguine Rose not useful?! What is wrong with you people? Unless you can summon dremora of your own, it's the gift that keeps on giving. Like the DB guy who advises you summon a dremora on your way out of the emperor's banquet. Or set one loose in the Thalmor embassy. They don't just kill, they kill with style.

I gave the Sanguine Rose to Marcurio to hold since he's my pack mule. He used it on basically every enemy encounter, so it was a merry band of myself the orc, the Breton wizard, and his zany Dremora familiar. Gooood times.

I thought it was a great quest, fun (Like the mind of madness quest)

I have not done it with this character, but I think that will be rectified tomorrow ^^

Never say "rectified" or "rectify" when Sanguine is around.

I personally wish that you could have done all the stuff from that quest, rather than hearing about it.

My favorite quest and you have a way of seeing the big picture. It's also my favorite reward. Good ol' Uncle Sanguine. :tes:
Yep my fav too. Nothing like a cheap TES rip off quest of the hangover.

Uh. What weird version are you in?

Well, they are all called Lord of This or Prince of That, and in my experience they all behave that way too. Especially ones like Sheogorath speak to you in a rather polite way, something I didn't expect of a Deadric prince. Of course not all of them are that polite, but still, some stick up to their title.

they don't allow men into the Inner Sanctum.

Is that what they're calling it these days?!

I accidentally skipped the whole thing, or most of it.

- Woke up in Markarth and cleaned up
- Suddenly got a quest to fetch a new priestess for the temple... okay...
- Fetched the priestess, got sidetracked a few times, got sick of it all, went back to Whiterun...
-...and bumped into Ysolde, who advanced the quest to the end.

(I know the new priestess quest was unrelated, but it all kind of got mashed together).
I thought I might get that Priestess mission but didn't.

I see what your saying, I had not given it that much thought. But I guess even a Prince of Debauchery has a civil side. But at the same time, do they really need to live up the "princely" ways? I would have thought the Prince of Debauchery would have had silk type clothes on, and women dripping off him, and them half naked. Not dressed up in Daedra armor. And then the speech was just way off for me, to civil. He should have been swearing about something and demanding another round of Spiced Wine and so on.. It just seemed ridiculous to me.
And as for the other comments about being a fun mission, I guess I cut it short. I didn't go after the goat. The game should not have let me make another choice because I got out of going after the goat. I was able to intimidate the man and skip that part. I will have to do it differently next time around. I thought it was a disappointing quest, might have been more fun if I had gone after the goat. LOL

No they are not "all" polite some are demanding, like Meridia. But they are overly polite, not something I would have expected from a Daedra at all. They do evil for the most part, how many "evil" humans are polite???? When was the last time you watched a movie or anything with debauchery in it that was POLITE?? Not me.. Must be only in the world of Bethseda.

This topic makes me want to do Merunes Dagon's Quest, I wonder how POLITE he is.. I mean he is the Prince of Destruction, I wonder if he has some wimpy voice since he was so formly defeated during the Oblivion Crisis. Will he say, Please and thank you? I doubt it but I will find out. :)

Dagon is also the prince of Ambition and Revolution. It isn't all mindless destruction, you know?

True, he sent his minions of lesser daedra on an Ambitious Revolution that failed. LOL

Yep, that one is great too.

Yeah, A Night to Remember is one I don't put off. As soon as I see Sam I go for it because I'm afraid the quest will bug and I'll never get the opportunity, plus it fits that for that quest I'd be distracted from whatever I was doing to drink instead.

FWIW: I've never even used the staff, but, man is it cool-looking.

Seriously? I LOVE that staff! I use it all the time on all my toons! LOL The Dremora is an amazing meat shield and tank! hehehehe He comes in extremely handy, when you are surrounded by Draugrs!! I also enjoy that quest and do it also the minute I see Sam. He appeared in the Solitude tavern the last time I did it!

The only thing that I dread is the last encounter with the Arch Mage. Man, those mages in that fort fried my characters plenty of times. Now, I try to go in with stealth and take them out one by one. I always take a companion along, too! (and save often hahahaha)

Polite evil is a more dangerous evil. Politeness can put someone off guard unlike someone yelling, swearing, and threatening you. Moriarity in the latest Sherlock Holmes movie shows this. The way the deadra talk remind me of european aristocrats of the 18th century. All proper yet callous of those "beneath" them. I view Sanguine like the Marquis De Sade or Calligula. He maintains an air of nobility while he indulges in anything that interests him and if anyone else gets hurt to bad, not his concern.

I guess that is probably the best explaination. I could think of someone else that is in a powerful postion today that would fit in that description you gave. This is an interesting topic. :)

Marquis De Sade is probably the best comparison for Sanguine! He certainly has a refined appearance, but his soul (if Deadra's have one) is blacker than black. And they certainly see us mortals beneath them, utterly and irrevocably, beneath them. Good for running around and fetching things for them, to be disposed of with a shrug when no longer needed. I mean this was made very clear when you spoke to Kathutet in Oblvion (a dremora found in Mankar Cameron's Paradise and I think the only Dremora you could have a conversation with). We are but animals in their eyes.

Oh you're missing some of the best lines in the game. The Dremora you summon says some funny stuff, plus he's tough. I recently watched him chase a hostile goat down the road shouting, "Are you prepared for your death?" Just hilarious. :tes:

Later when I get the Summon Dremora Lord spell, I give the Sanguine Rose to my follower, Argis. We're like a little army then. :D :tes:
