Nightingale armor dilemma

Daedra are no living creatures. They just look like ones. Some of them, at least.
But it's basically demon armour, so the inhibitions for LG characters still hold.

They have hearts so they are close enough. :P Yeah, I know they aren't part of Nirn, etc...

The only armor I can stand to look at on my toons is leather modded to look like TG armor. It's not as "protective" (so I have to do some heavy potion imbibing sometimes) but since this game is so visually stunning, I just can't STAND to wear something as ugly as every other armor in this game....

I am dissapointed that my Khajiit's (and I'm assuming Argonian's) tail pokes through the cape. At least Ancient Shrouded doesn't have this problem, and also looks nice, save for the hood (no mask and Ancient Shrouded Hood doesn't render on the beast races, but I can equip Shrouded Hood at same time for the extra Archery.)

LoZ, if you're on pc there's a mod to bind the tails so they don't clip....

Most Armor in Skyrim don't bother me but I like Steel Plate, Night Gale, and Daedric. Specially Daedric.

The Night-Gale Armor is improvable and I believe that has been said so no need to say much else.

Oh, and btw, Daedra are living beings. But they don't require to eat, drink, etc like normal human beings and they can't reproduce. Daedra are immortal beings that can be whatever form their Daedric Prince wants them to be and when a Daedra is killed, they are recreated back in Oblivion, or respective Daedric Realm. Also, killing a Daedra in Oblivion, or their respective Daedric Realm, might permanently kill them but this has not been proven. Another note: Most Daedra are created by a Daedric Prince thus that is how their form is as that Prince wishes. Some Daedra, like the Atronaches, were created in other ways and isn't allied with a Daedric Prince.

Is it possible to use the mannequin glitch to get a second set of Nightingale armor without enchantmnets? Really love the armor but I hate the enchants....

No, it's the same as issued. FWIW: I don't think those are enchantments (same with DB Shrouded set) - I think the buffs are the result of quality of construction and aren't magical per se.

Talk about being unbalanced! :lmao:

Wow, my characters are Daedra! Who knew?!

LOL, that goes back a ways. I think I kept the Nightingale Gloves, but the rest was of no value to me, except the boots, which I gave to a follower. Otherwise I have the full Ancient Shrouded set. The TG gear is pretty much useless, IMO. This perspective is from a sneak thief / archer.

Glass look epic on my bosmer, but his ears poke out. Elven doesn't seem to have this problem. Gee, bosmers have long ears.

Yes, I like the Nightingale look as well, but feel it doesn't have as much of what I want. So i wear my dual enchanted Dragonscale. I would love to be able to have an unenchated set of Nightingale to play with, but xbox - no way.

I've heard that past the armor cap means nothing.... so 900 = whatever the armor cap is, so getting uber armor is actually meaningless - is that true. Reference would be nice for verification) after all, I can be wasting time and effort on armor crafting!

567 is the numerical cap:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Armor#Armor_Cap

I Smith mine past it for 2 reasons:
1) It's easier than trying to stop right at 567
2) In expansions the 80% damage reduction may bring the cap higher than 567 since I'm assuming the 80% is based upon the highest damage attack by an NPC: 708 if I've done the math correctly (although 710 might make more sense). So if there are higher leveled opponents in an expansion they may be able to deal more than 708 which would bring the Armor Cap up. :P

You don't like the look of the Glass stuff? I think it's fine as hell...if you can get past the feathery/wingy Elven look, but the malachite makes it look really good. I put a set on one of my Mannequins even.

Does the mannequin work out to a Sweatin' to the Oldies VHS tape while wearing the stuff? :)

I just don't dig the look of it. And as someone pointed out, I was wrong when I said Glass was the best light armor in the game. I spaced out; it is Dragonscale. In my nerdy amount of run-throughs I've never acquired a set of dragonscale armor... which gives me good enough reason to spend a pathetic amount of hours on a new character just so he can eventually wear Dragonscale armor.

I don't think so, but the mannequins in Honeyside do work out to Creepin' to the Classics on Betamax.

I think the Dragonscale looks better than the Dragonplate - it's even kinda' form-fitting on female characters. The Dragonplate looks too Fred Flintstoney (not my words - someone else here came up with that, but I don't remember who  - I just like that description ), but I do have a set on my Heavy Armor guy that I wore during the MQ out of respect.

I don't really like glass armour either. As that blacksmith says: "Iron or steel is what you need. Leave that fancy Elven stuff for the Elves". ;-)

Get a mod that makes your glass armour better.

Some careful use of the fortify restoration exploit might help here.
Careful as in repairing live nukes.

Maximizing my armor is my battle tactic.

Standing behind Lydia is mine, forsworn armor look real nice on brown female Khajiits.
The nightingale hood and all full helmets looks terrible and feels more painful than elder dragons.

Yeah, most armor in RPGs are more aesthetic than practical. Take the Daedric, for example: no one in their right mind would won't all those 'spikes' sticking off it because it would catch a weapon and snap your neck or drag you to the ground. I love the look and wear it on my heavy armor guy, but in real life I would choose Ebony.

My take on why the Ebony and Daedric are so close in stats is that a pure good character might have issues wearing/wielding Daedric because it requires the heart of a formerly living humanoid to craft it so ebony is an option for lawful good types.
Smithing is real powerful, make armor type less important,

And yes you don't want spikes on armor, guess most of the helmet decorations you see is things who would be knocked off easily and was also mostly used by REMF.

They have hearts so they are close enough. Yeah, I know they aren't part of Nirn, etc...
Daedra are living creatures. High end daedra even have black souls. ever played SI.

I said they were.

Can we capture the souls of the 4 at the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon? I've never tried. :o

No, I haven't played "SI" - Shivering Isles expansion to Oblivion?

Ok, I'm going to drink a 50% blacksmith potion, smith the nightingale set and then see if playing with lessened armor rating and removed two-handed and archery enchantments ruins my game or not. I just want to see a backstab killcam wearing this armor.

As to people saying the glass armor looking good, I disagree because it just doesn't look like something a light armor user should be wearing. It looks big, bulky and metallic. Not something a sneaky guy like me needs!

Also, another vent: why oh why can't I enchant chest armor with magic resistance? Why is there such a stupid rule that some enchantments only go with certain armors? Nearly everything in this game feels so arbitrary and inconsistent.

At Level 42, my Smithing is 100 and all perks except Daedric are taken. So apart from steel, elven and glass weapons, I can't improve the others above flawless. Same goes for my light armours. None can be improved above flawless. Yesterday I got the Nightingale outfit. Flawless is as high as it would go. Neither my light armour nor one-handed is at 100 yet and few perks have been taken. What am I missing to improve my weapons and armour to legendary?

Btw, I have a policy at the moment of no mods.

On the question of a need to skull health potions, I can't remember the last time I used one. I wear the full Ancient Shrouded improved to flawless and always manage to rest and recuperate after tough melees.

Yeah I'm at the smiths right now and decided to check a Skyrim wiki and it says:

"If you obtain all smithing perks except for the last optional one, the Nightingale armor will only upgrade to flawless. (Getting the last perk seems to fix this)"

Gargghh. I've got smithing at 100, but still need to get daedric and dragon perks. Can I smith the set to flawless then later smith past it? It's not just going to stop at flawless will it?
