Non lethal brawls are badly done in Skyrim!

What would have been cool IMO was a system like the Gothic games, where you can deliver a beatdown to pretty much anyone who wants to fight you, but you choose whether or not you leave cowering, or finish them off.

if beth isn't going to do it right, why put it in the game? if it is in the game, it is fair to put into the light and criticize/critique.

the only brawling i find satisfying is with khajiit. the claws wreck everybody. it's somewhat useful at low levels for a quick buck, but otherwise i don't bother. if it had fight night style controls though, i might be a professional fighter in skyrim.

You know, it kind of is in the game....go into to a tavern and start beating on some people, you get attacked an it escalates, either you run and hide or die, or go to jail I guess..my only complaint is that they should just knock you out, maybe take some of your stuff instead of trying only to jail or kill you.

Yeah, not that big a fan of the Brawl system either. For me, personally, it is the people that like to run around you, in front of you, and behind you as you are fighting this guy, and then, if one punch goes a-stray, the entire room/town goes berserk and tries to murder you.

Uthgerd the Unbroken gave me a tough fight in master though.
In a way, movement speed (animation) should also be faster for slimmer characters and more like "throw an arm" for bulkier ones. Perhaps the devs were having fun with the momentum with a big bulky barbarian, who knows.

you...you..drink bear? I'm...um...just gonna go...umm...somewhere else. I think i...um..left the fire..um...burning...at home. You know...in the next city over. I'll just be...um...going now.
There's nothing like a good thick, tall keg of BEAR!
Only noticed now! Good fun! I imagine marcin388 must be a bulky one

Agreed. Also, Ebony Mail shouldn't poison the person you are brawling...

Being able to fist fight everyone in the game is just simply not realistic.

A few people, tied to side quests? Sure.

You punch me in my face and you're getting a two handed War Axe in your dome.... that 's IF the guards don't get there before I swing that heavy s.o.b, end of story.

I completely agree with you OP. Especially your second point about spectators getting in the way. I've lost my 100 gold bet more than once because a guard arrested me and forced me to pay bail money during a so called brawl. And yes, we should get to engage in fisticuffs with alot more npcs. Many are begging for a good beating!

Hand-to-hand got removed as a skills.......therefore any unarmed attacking would of course be very simple and very little time spent on them.

They're a touch ridiculous. They kind of feel like Rock'em Sock'em Robots... which you can't lose.

Found out the other day that you can use healing spells during these brawls. Yeah...

Yeah, I actually went back and played Gothic 2 a little today to remember how it worked after reading this thread and thinking about it.

Basically you can go up in towns and settlements and deliver beatings to people - with weapons and it's just considered a 'fight', people cheer and whatnot. If you knock them out you can take their stuff, and vice versa, once they are knocked down, you can also choose to execute them, which of course will get gaurds/everyone seeing it to attack. It makes just running up and fighting someone carry some risk, as if you lose they would generally take all you gold. However, some people have good stuff and it's worth the risk! Unless you just reload or something of course. It was a really fun system..I had hoped there would be something like a 'lite' version of this in Skyrim, I don't like how half the world is sort "off limits" unless you want to willingly be a criminal, like someone else said, it seems inappropriate for a more lawless, medeival type society to function like this.
