Not excited by the DLC

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 3:51 pm

Dawnguard isn't going to be for everyone, just like Shiverin Isles, Knights of the Nine, Bloodmoon and Tribunal weren't for everyone. It's impossible for a company to make a DLC tailored to every single person, nor are they obliged to do so.

Don't pull Dragon Age into this flamebait troll thread. At least, not Origins.
Ok Elvis.

I know right?

Some people were whining earlier that Bethesda made it so Vampires in Dawnguard finally get stronger when they feed rather than getting stronger when they starve themselves.

Also have to keep in mind they said thats for both of the main storylines if you finish one and reload a previous save and do the other.

They didn't include the side quests for both factions and the soul cairn side quests..and the misc quests and they haven't even revealed to us what the second new area is, they just said there would be another other than the soul cairn so that area prolly has side quests and misc quests..

"They said?"

No. Todd Howard said 10-20 hours, very vaguely. He didn't say if it was one side, both sides, or every quest in the DLC. I'm not sure where you got your info from. I was part of the beta testing and I can tell you that you're incorrect, however that's all I'll say.

Anyway, I don't see how the OP can complain even if it was only 20 hours max. Most 60 dollar games have less play time or equivalent play time to that and they still sell copies.

Ive played it 6 times and done every quest and it always takes 23-24 hours each play through.
This is a blatant lie. Speed running on casual doing every quest in Origins takes at least 30 hours.

Considering the story changes slightly for each origin and you played it 6 times, then with all due respect wth is your point? You got way more value for money there, I have played origins 4 times and in totall thats more hours than I have spent on skyrim and dragon age doesnt have crap writing.

You must be joking! it took me 60 hours to finish dragon age 1 on my first character.

My 1st character was closer to 80 hours before I finished the game. Then another 15 - 20 for Awakinings.

On the OPs topic: Even if I was interested in vampires I wouldn't care to buy anything else from this company. Fool me once and all that [censored].

Why did this become a Dragon Age discussion? Kind of off-topic.

Probably because the opening post is just so ridiculous that people can't face talking about it? :)

It adds a whole new area, sort of like shivering isles. It can be 100 hours depending on what you do with it. Please do some research before posting a dumb topic like this, also, not sure if you're trolling.

Your loss.
Some of the beta testers tell me its more like 40 hours.

Oh really now? Did they? Tsk. Tsk.
I'm just going to sit back and laugh.

The ridiculousness ends on Tuesday and many people will either rejoice or fall into despair and run around flailing their arms because they didn't get what they wanted or hoped.

The DLC could be good, but as fans, a lot of you should know its quality will be obscured by the ridiculous amount of hype that has been built up for this DLC. not to mention all the crying over "oh I talked to a beta tester and he said...." BS. Trust me, nobody talked to a beta tester. You guys need to get a hold of yourselves and stop. So many threads have been started and so many people have been spreading RIDICULOUS things. It's like you need to lie to feel as if you have friends! If anyone in the Beta went against the NDA, it sure as hell wasn't to let some dude on the forums know. Because they aren't stupid, they know rumors spread like wildfire. Succumb to the flame of ignorance and burn out your own joy. That's exactly what is happening here. I love TES games, I love these forums and the awesome people on here, but If this is how you all act over a DLC then I am disappointed. Its worse than the way twilight fan girls act. ALOT worse.

So play TES and talk about it, don't lie and spread rumors and cry. ENJOY it.

So lets recap..
Hes mad that the Xbox is getting it first..and that the PS3/Xbox 360 isn't getting TES Online..and that the DLC won't be the size of Morrowind and Oblivion?

Seems legit.

MMO interface just isn't practical for a game controller.

It's not an issue of money that the consoles are not getting TESO, its that it can't be done with a controller.

And as for the whole timed exclusitity thing, keep in mind, Oblivion didn't come out for PS3 until at least a year after it did on the consoles, Morrowind wasn't featured on ps2 at all, and daggerfall and arena only hit the consoles. So whenever anyone talks about "the greed of microsoft" I just wanna say "Please continue, my good sir. and count your blessings, consoles are lucky they get it at all." 10 years ago, if you only bought 1 console, you were limiting yourself to half of all the great games out. Now, you get all the great games with either console, its just, sometimes, you have to wait a measly 30 days.

I'm calm, your not acting calm. There's a handful of beta testers on this thread right now, They can confirm my statement without breaking the NDA...

Thank you. Also, like I said, there would have to be limitations on it if it was also brought to consoles...MMOs already have enough limitations as it is. The only MMO I can say truely looks nice (graphics wise) is FFXIV and that MMO is a complete failure gameplay wise.

Complaining about TESO is something for the TESO forums, not here.

Sorry to veer off-topic (actually, I'm not as this is clearly a troll thread) but I find this very, very difficult to believe. Actually, I think you're lying. Why you would bother is beyond me, but completing Dragon Age: Origins + all DLC (including expansion Awakenings which should add a good 10 - 15 hours)... no. Just no.

The points is that the op is complaining how the games 10-20 hours and im just saying there's games out there that are shorter or barely longer then that and there's games, not dlc i was using dragon age only as an example because i usually beat it around 20 hours btw I play on the lowest difficulty setting.

Really now? Ha. Okay bro.
Did you take into consideration base content and general exploration time? Because there is no set number for how long you decide to explore or take your time. The main questlines.... Well.. Let's just say you'll find out on Tuesday.
