Obsidian and Bethesda- thanks for status report!

Xbox 360, can take up to one and a half minutes to load an area. <_<
I don't have a lot of saves and I keep my saves to a certain minimum and delete the auto-save every other hour.
I'm out of ideas of what I can do to fix it.

There is a memory leak bug, which happens if you leave your Xbox on for a long time, which causes the long loading. A fix is to turn of your Xbox every 1 and a half hours or so and then turn it back on and start playing.

BTW Pc users think all consol versions are very buggy, but I have it on the PS3 and it has fast loading and little bugs.. :tops:

It is SO hard not to drop a flame bomb on this thread.... SO hard...
Too much "Mine is better because..." "yours is worse because..."

To the OP: Agreed

Slow load times: As mentioned before, when your game starts dragging through loads just restart your Xbox. Fixed (for an hour or two). I've even had luck just exiting the game and going back in. It is not a lack of total memory as was posted, it is a minor mismanagement of memory resources that causes bloat over time (aka memory leak). I've had other games that suffer from it.

To the Console guys: Yes, PC folks have higher resolution and the ability to run mods. pretty cool.
To the PC guys: Console owners never have to upgrade their equipment to play the latest game at max settings. For a sub $300 initial investment (made years ago). Pretty cool.

Some like chocolate, some prefer vanilla. Whatever.

Lastly, would you guys please start a new thread for the hardware discussion stuff and quit hijacking other threads to hammer on this poor dead horse?

I'm on the ps3 and my load times aren't long at all, maybe 5-10seconds depending on the area.

So judging by this I would have to become a computer nerd and drop at least 3k... or i can get an xbox and wait 5 to 10 more seconds for a load screen and have a slightly less clear picture? But on my 65 inch hdtv, the pictures is pretty damn smooth and with my surround sound, it's very immersive.

I'm gonna go with the one where i only spend like 300 bucks.

Enjoy your 3dtv.

I only spent 300 bucks on a gaming PC that can run anything out there. You don't have to become a nerd and you don't have to spend 3 grand. In fact if you spend three grand you're doing it completely wrong.

Building a PC is literally tab A into Slot B, cord C into port D, throw the windows disk in and done. It takes about an hour or so to go from a pile of parts to the windows desktop. Now building a rig on my budget does take some knowhow and some garbage picking, which is literally how I scored my monitor, but even then you don't have to become a nerd to pull it off.

To the PC guys: Console owners never have to upgrade their equipment to play the latest game at max settings. For a sub $300 initial investment (made years ago). Pretty cool.

I haven't had to upgrade my equipment to play latest games. I'm running on a 300 dollar homebuilt PC that can easily run New Vegas. Besides only benchmark/graphic [censored]s care about whether or not the game is maxed out. If it runs and it's playable you're good to go, and to get that you don't need to spend any more than you would on a console. Providing, of course, you can sniff out deals. I got a badass monitor because a school district was just throwing it away, my CPU was bought for 20 bucks because a pin had fell off(Being an AMD chip I simply wedged some wire from a bread tie into the matching hole in the socket and she works like a charm), and the only brand new components in my entire machine are the four sticks of G.Skill DDR400. That's only because I insisted on having four matched sticks because of how Socket 939 memory controllers behave with four gigs installed.

Honestly I'm tired of people saying you need to spend a fortune on PCs to game, and that you need to be able to max games out to play them. My own personal experience says otherwise.

good to hear a patch is coming....Ive been waiting to get some of the big questline breaking bugs fixed. :)

Cant wait till the thread after the patch where people start complaining again that the specific issue they had wasnt fix aand that Bethesda makes a crap game (yes, I know Obsidian made it....but Bethesda seems to get more of the blame).

There are alot of complaints...like people saying that the game should have been delayed until it had been tested more....but franky imagine the outrage if they had delayed the game....and the fact is the testers didnt have these issues or they would have fixed them...and its only th 5% of users that get the major problems that come and rant on the forums (if its working fine you dont come here to rant about it).

EDIT:
I hope they bring out a GECK update aswell....mine at the moment is so buggy I cant use it.

but somehow fail to admit the same is true now for the 360. Crysis is over three years old now and an example of a game that the current console generation just can't run without dumbing it down a lot

Crysis is a bad example if you ask me....the Engine is way too hardware intensive for what it actually does.
I can run all the latest games really well....yet Crysis runs sloppy.

Crysis 2 runs on a newer engine...and was also made to run on the PS3 and Xbox 360 so I think it would run better then the CryEngine 2.

Also I do not really agree with you...games for the 360 and PS3 still look great if you ask me 5 years onwards (less for the PS3).

I don't think new Hardware would improve the games too much at this point....not like the leap was from Xbox 1 to Xbox 360.

I'll be jumping with glee when they fix the incredibly long loading times.

I installed it to my Xbox and it don't take nearly as long to load.

But ive heard from others that installing it wont fix the load times so i guess try it and see hat happens.

Yup, terrible loading times, when i exit Mick and Ralph's the loading screen almost shows up. I am not kidding. Well, maybe a little :P

Only bugs that annoy me are the dogs, ants, and RadScorpion that walk with their heads underground, but since that bug is still in Fallout 3 too, i'm not exactly holding my breath waiting for that to be fixed. Maybe the new bug, bark scorpions doing the submarine impersonation will be fixed. A man can dream... ^_^

You realize consoles havnt run a game on max settings for a long time now right? If a game is multi-platform then 9 times out of 10 its fixed on medium settings on the console versions.

Seriously, in terms of platforms used for gaming, you get what you pay for, as a pc user I have no beef with consoles or console users, but I believe console are now 4 year old tech, they cannot run the latest games at the highest setting without considerable performance loss, as I said I've nothing against consoles in general, they are convenient and an easier platform to write games for, but please check the facts on the hardware.

Excellent, please direct me to the location I can purchase a 65" home theater + console setup for $300! I'm all over that price point. :poke:

(Hint: You've spent more than $300 on your gaming setup)

Okay, okay. Why don't we keep this thread on-topic, please? (Hint, the title of this thread is neither "How much did I spend on the things I use to play my videogames," nor is it "Let's talk about how consoles and PCs are different.")

And you aren't whining and complaining?

You're a hypocrite....

He isn't complaining. He is pointing out the issues he does have, to showcase that he is not out there posting whiny threads about when is a patch coming out, this is unacceptable. Learn2Comprehend.

People complain too much, IMO, go do something else until the patch arrives... people expect everything to be prepared for them immediately, it's shameful. Yeah, there are bugs/glitches/whatever and it svcks, get over it... yeah, some people can't even play the game and it svcks, get over it... OBVIOUSLY they're working on a patch, why would one of the most highly anticipated games of the year get released like this and then just be abandoned? C'mon, get real... people moan and groan about how bad the company is and everything because Obsidian/Bethesda couldn't snap their fingers and fix the game and solve world hunger simultaneously... blah blah blah, 90% of them are still playing the game though... hmm, lot of hot air around here if you ask me.

My game crashes every now and again, my game freezes a lot, I can't have autosave on otherwise my game freezes more which doesn't sound like an issue except when I don't save for an hour, I have to restart the game every now and again due to weird texture issues, my companions all have the same poor AI like yours and are morons too... still love the game, if it was so unbearable I would do something else until a patch came along... sheesh. /endcynicalrant

Anyway OP: Yes, let's all take a moment to appreciate someone popping in to tell us the obvious and hopefully quell this flood of impatience and whining. Of course, it'll resume by next week I'm sure...

Well it shouldn't have happened in the first place. It's just embarrassing and unprofessional that the game was release with this many bugs and glitches. People have a right to "moan and groan", this is below all standards for a game being released. You also say that people should just go play something else until the patch comes out? I don't think I'm the only one here who would say that's just outright stupid. So if I buy a game and it's unplayable, I have to wait a few weeks to wait for a patch to fix a enormous amount of problems that shouldn't have been there from the start? I'm not one to bash people on their opinions but yours is just meaningless. And I think your the one with the most hot air here so why don't you sit down and take a chill pill.

I humbly but steadfastly disagree. I have seen many releases (for some high profile games, too) that were much worse than this. You can pick up any game magazine or go to any of the major review sites and read the horror stories.

I generally make it a practice to wait for the first major patch before buying any game—I made an exception this time and I'm glad I did.

Should this be as common as it is in the industry? No
Should folks report their issues and complain to the maker and publisher? Yes

What good does it do to whine and flail and shout and make ridiculous assertions and spout hyperbole? Does it help your case? Will it have any effect on others wishing to buy the game? The answer to all of these is: No

What it does do is make wading through these boards a depressing and wearying chore. I usually don't even respond to the abject whiners, but at least you show a little thought and reasonableness. I just think you are over reacting a little. It will give you ulcers :icecream:
