odd habbits

I constantly pace back and forth when I am standing and thinking.
If I am sitting and thinking I bounce my knee.

Those are the two main oddities about me.

I occasionally take shots of vinegar.
When I am sitting on a table, I move my fingers as if I am playing a piano (I do play the piano, but I start moving my fingers as if I were playing the given piece on a piano).
I bite off a finger nail and chew on it.
I randomly have nervous breakdowns over things that have never happened, or happened long ago and I usually curse in second person ("[censored] you!") directed at myself.

Not sure if it counts as a habit, but there are certain windows in my flat that I refuse to open - ever. I'm arachnophobic and I've somehow managed to convince myself that those are the windows that the spiders use to get in. I've also got a coat rack in the downstairs hall that I believe houses spiders, so there's one coat there that I haven't touched in about a year and a half now. I keep all my other coats upstairs so as not to lose any more to the spiders.

That's got to be at least bordering on OCD.

I keep a ball of Blu-Tack on my desk and roll it around in my hand when I'm surfing the net. That's about it.

Oh and the knee bobbing thing. That's pretty mainstream.

Thinking about it, ya, I do this too, but less about opening windows and more about doing other things, such as getting on my bike when I havnt ridden it for a month or so.

OT: I refuse to wear new clothes until they've been washed at least once... They just feel dirty :(

I do this weird thing with my mouth and pop my ears constantly when I get stressed or nervous...

My mate does this. Do you wiggle your index finger in your ear too?

I put my hand in my shirt when I'm on the computer and let it rest.

I do that.

Also related, I look to see if the door is locked before lieing down to go to bed. As soon as I start to drift off .... "which way was the dead bolt facing?" ... *get up look again. Ok it's locked lie back down, "wait, I'm half asleep, did I really take a good look?". Get back up, this time walk up to the door, try to turn the handle, and pull on it. Oddly enough I've always lived in safe neighborhoods, so much so that growing up I knew a lot of people that never even locked their door, so I'm not sure where it came from. It rareoly happens now, but used to drive me insane.

I do that too. Paranoia I guess.

I fall asleep with my TV on, preferably Nick at Night.
I can never have the pointy end of pens or pencils facing me on my desk.
When going anywhere I count the items in my pockets to make sure I have everything.
My phone must always be in my right pocket and my wallet in my left.
I can never have my eating utensils set up the proper way, I always have them on the right side.
My pillows are set up around my bed in a certain fashion.
Crack every single joint on my body.
I keep my room super neat, I don't know why this is but it has started up in the recent year.

I chew on the skin around my fingernails, but not on the fingernails themselves.

I pace as well, my mother always made me stop because it made her "nervous".

1. I always check the garage door to make sure its down before I go to bed. The other doors I don't obsess over, but I've forgotten the garage door up all night a few times. Even when I see the door go down at 6PM I'll check it again (knowing full well I saw it close!) before I got to bed.

2. I eat the vegetables on my plate first. If I don't I'll fill up on the stuff I really like and won't eat them (and I know they're good for me).

3. I always put my shoes in the closet and close the door. I can't stand to have an open closet door.

4. I curse other drivers out that annoy me in a variety of accents. My two favorites are Liverpool and Southeast London.

5. Whenever I cook I must throw open all the windows to air the house out afterwards (regardless of weather). Hate stale cooking odors.

Actually, none of these sound like habits. More like strange obsessive-compulsive issues.

Lately, I've taken to eating things in a certain order. Like yesterday I went to a deli and got a club sandwich that came with chips, and I didn't touch the sandwich until I had eaten all of the chips.

I also used to have http://www.techgadgets.in/images/sprint-lg-rumor-phone.jpg phone, and I would just randomly keep sliding it opened and closed for no reason. I really hated that phone, but I found it entertaining to keep messing with it.

I used to have some OCD-ish habits, but I've broken out of most of them.
Example:
- making sure all doors are locked (only doors that provide access into house)
- making sure all lights are turned off

-------------

Other habits I have:
- shaking shower curtain before I get into shower - just in case there are spiders hanging on it (this has happened before, very unpleasant surprise!)
- stuff my "bed-time" socks in between the mattress and bedframe (so spiders don't crawl in them). Yes, I wear socks to bed, otherwise my feet get cold.
- In fact, I wear socks all the time so that my feet don't get cold. Even with sandals (oh, the horror!).
