Only thing I can think of is to start over and carefully follow the walkthrough. I wouldn't delete that character (unless you're remaking it identically) because a future patch may fix it.

there is no way i am starting again. i have been reading online that you can donate the elder scroll to the librarian in the college i have used the scroll and learned dragonrend but i have not finished the sovengarde quest yet.will i need the scroll later in the game or can i donate it now.i am at the college now and would like an answer ASAP.thanks for all the help

Yeah, once you get the option to donate/sell it you're done with it...unless you want to read it for fun or use it as decoration.

buckom i got something from a courier after i bought an amulet of mara.it didnt say what i got it just said items added.ive had it since about between lvl 15-17
