Ohhh Oblivion...

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 4:28 pm

Ppl forget too soon, when a new game come out start to say is surely better of the precedent game when there are so many thing are cutted and so many thing made bad after years .

The only good thing made in skyrim is the graphic , some dungeons and add dual casting (dual wielding is bad design), all the rest is lesser if compared with oblivion or morrowind, IA is bad like years ago bethesda simple don't working on this years on IA and prefer cut more things for work less.

Good action adventure but very little Elder Scrolls(for console or simple lazyness?)

Uhm.. They were not. The city size is pretty much about the same, varying per city.

If anything the cities in Oblivion were just as underwhelming. In particular the Imperial City which imho was the most underwhelming city ever in a TES game. The thousands years old city, capital of all of Tamriel, fabled in the lore, was a cart-wheel of tiny sections with a sparse population. It was not the capital I imagined, it didn't even come close.

I was referring all the things in imperial city.
Arcane university, Arena, Market place, an I wish that there was an arena! I loved that lol

Ah yes, the monster types of Oblivion...

Wolves, bears, trolls, spriggans...

so much different than Skyrim, you know...

Oh yeah, why are there no minotaurs in Skyrim[?] ...they were in Pale Pass.

Pale Pass had ogres. Speaking of which, why no ogres in Skyrim?

But Skyrim does give us two new mythical creatures, the harpy aka hagraven and the giant. And of course goblins are replaced by falmer.

am with you op i think the cities in ob were alot better... i thought winterhold was a sick joke. also the inns, each cave is hand crafted and unique yet each inn you go in is pretty much the same all over skyrim...
I was surprised by Winterhold's meagerness at first as well, but don't forget half of it (more, probably) fell into the sea fairly recently. Hmm, that begs the question -- are there any underwater buildings to explore down that side of the mountain? Never occurred to me to look, for some reason.

Mor: Think about it. They didnt NEED to do what happened in Vvardenfel in the early 4th era. It was intentional. My only assumption is that they wanted to negate any possibiility of a return to the place, by making it entirely unambiguous about its fate.

I agree, I miss some of the wonder that oblivion presented. The cities seemed less fabricated and more real. I wish I could provide a better explanation, but the game was just so much more real than skyrim (besides that fact that all the people had baby faces)

Skyrim repeats its self a lot. Npc's are plain and predictable. Give me something I don't expect

This is not just wrong, it the complete opposite.

Oblivion: Nothing unexpected, zero sense of wonder. (no sense of dread entering a new area)
Morrowind and Skyrim: potential insta death behind every door. Both very exciting games.

Sorry man Oblivion was just plain dull. City size and creature variety mean nothing when you can't keep your eyes open.

I really don't want all the games to be the same. I'm glad there is a slightly different bestiary each time. I would not like to eat my favorite food every single day of my life.

They've put in natural creatures that fit the sort of climate and chucked in more fantastical creatures like spriggans, wisp mothers and ice wraiths. I can't see what there is to moan about.

I liked Oblivion better too, but that's only because it was my first TES game, so neither Skyrim or Morrowind gave me the same excitment that I got from playing Oblivion for the first time. If I was being logical, I would have to say that Skyrim is actually the better game.

All aboard the Nostalgia Train.

Choo choo.

Ha, exactly my point!
