Old West Movies

The Dollars trilogy, of course.

Also, The Quick and the Dead is another favorite of mine.

Which one? The newer one with DiCaprio, or the older one with Sam Elliot? I thought that the older one was a joke due to the overplayed parts and other reasons.

It looks pretty interesting, now that I've actually seen a preview at the theater.

Also, Blazing Saddles.

Haha, good call!

Unforgiven B)

Finally, someone mentions the best western movie of all! The Dollars trilogy, the Bronson movies, and all the rest are fine and dandy, but Unforgiven is unique how it looks at the aftermath of a life of bloodshed. Makes other westerns look hokey and dated (though still fun to watch.) Also possibly my favorite movie directed by Eastwood.

I've been a big fan of westerns as long as I can remember, here are a few that I own and watch fairly regularly.

Bandolero!
Five card Stud
The Gambler
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence
Hang Em High
High Plains Drifter
Unforgiven
Rio Bravo
El Dorado
The Shootist

There are other I like as well, but I'm not gonna post them all since the list would be way too long.

Medivh, why don't you like John Wayne?

I'm a little tired, so I won't give an in-depth explanation. In short, all his films are way to stereotypical AMERICA [censored] YEAH!!!, which annoys me to no end.

The new True Grit was far better than the old one in my opinion, Jeff Bridges was much better as Cogburn than John Wayne.

Although it's unusual and not thought of amongst westerns often, There Will Be Blood, and No Country For Old Men are two of my all time favorites. Clint Eastwood classics like Good Bad and Ugly and Unforgiven are entertaining everytime I watch. Of course I am yet to find a movie better than the HBO series Deadwood. If you haven't watched that yet, check it out.

I liked There will be be blood, although I don't really consider it a western.

And the fact he never plays a character, he plays John Wayne

My Favorite Western was the Outlaw Josey Wales
