Re: Answer to Q 4 "you can cap your level at any level you want with a perk".

Why would anyone want a trait to cap their level? Level UNCAPPERS are very popular mods and amongst the first to show up after Fallout NV was released, showing that people prefer the exact opposite. Why would Obsidian go thru the work to create something they already know people wouldn't want?

However if it is not a level capper but a work around for level capping then it might be usefull for console players. That is to say if it opens the screens to allow for skill increases and perk choosing but keeps the stated level the same, that might be desireable.

Except, not everyone uses mods nor want mods.

I bet that OWB will take place within the regular NV map. Since the preview video seems to show areas already in the regular map, I bet that OWB's main area will be the in the large inaccessible area west of Goodsprings.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_map

If you look at the map it's the large light gray area west of Goodspings, and south of Jacobs Town. Notice how the map seems to take on the appearance of a big, empty, desert area(Big Empty) Possibly when you load up OWB this area will be filled with new map markers, and somehow you'll be able to get there.

Why would anyone want a trait to cap their level?

Cause some of us like balance and specialized characters instead of master of all trades demi-gods.

What do they mean by pick your level cap?

Like I can choose to cap when ever I reach a level where I get a perk?

Level capping leans to more unique characters each playthorugh because they don' all have the same perks.

I doubt it, since that area is accessed by the "Lonesome Road" canyon wreckage. Unless the canyon wreckage leads to both DLCs. Could be.

Well im just going to go ahead and copy & paste my original topic post.

With Honest Hearts so close to release all our questions about it will soon be awnsered. It's time to speculate on OWB.
Here's what we know about it.

"In Old World Blues, releasing in June, you will discover how some of the Mojave’s mutated monsters came to be when you unwittingly become a lab rat in a science experiment gone awry. You’ll need to scour the Pre-War research centers of the Big Empty in search of technology to turn the tables on your kidnappers or join forces with them against an even greater threat."

Become a lab rat? what does that mean? are we going to get some kind of power, or transform like in morrowind when you turn into a warewolf?

Turn the tables on your kidnapper or join forces? Jeez, the courier isnt very good at not getting kidnapped is he? guess we wont be taking any equipment then.
Who are these kidnappers? Brotherhood? Enclave? but more important what is this "greater" threat? Aliens? A.I? House's brother (i can remember somebody saying he could be kept inside the big empty for some reason) ?

Mutated monsters? Nightstalkers are new to the mojave it said in game, so i guess they are one of them? Cazadors? Could Deathclaws be there?
I'm sure we will have more awnsers and questions when HH comes out.

I doubt this is the case. The teaser footage from Qore shows a projector being added to the Mojave Drive-in, projecting the eye onto the empty billboard screen. To the south of that area is a blocked off train tunnel. That is more likely the entrance to the Big Empty imo.

hmm yeah but just because the satellite thing projects at the Sunset drive-in, doesn't mean that's where the entrance is. Could be it pops up and says" come to the Big Empty, follow the road north and then follow the smoke" or something.

Sorry if it's already been pointed out but the bit about the level cap is incorrect isn't it?
My understanding is that you can cap the level specifically at level 30. I'd guesstimate that there an "implant" from a doctor/scientist or a machine you can use only once somewhere in the labs.

From my understanding once we load up OWB we will get to reset our traits if we want to (Old and new ones), one of these new traits is to cap at lvl 30.
Now if you're at lvl 40 from Honest Hearts then you cap at 40 instead.
Basically; you pick this trait before lvl 30 then you continue leveling until lvl 30 has been reached.
If you pick this trait at any lvl 31+ then you instantly cap yourself.
