The TG GuildMaster's armor is the ONLY decent looking armor in the game.... so all my girls get a set by console (the "bare" version from a mod) as they get to about the right level - because I won't do the TG questline....

Eww. No. I don't ever use heavy armor, and regardless, ALL of the armor is just plain ugly - except for the nice, quiet, dark, form-fitting leather of the TG Guildmaster. *sigh*

Doesn't it just look like basic thieves guild armour but with better stats?

I don't know.... I ran across the Guildmaster set "bare" (that is, without anything but armor rating, so one could enchant it oneself) in a mod before I ever saw anything else....

The dark brotherhood modded armor is very nice. I love it and wear it as long as possible. I wish it you could upgrade it every 20 levels or so.

I looked at my own set, smithed it up to max with potions, and then put most of it away in a drawer.

sev - if you're on PC.... I'm pretty sure I saw a mod for craftable "bare" DB armor as well. I don't like it as well, but it's certainly much better than a lot of other light armors in game.

My favorite is the Ebony Mail. If there was a full set of that, it would look great.

I wish I could get the GuildMaster armor unenchanted, so I can place my own enchantments on it. I also never use heavy armor mainly being a (for the most part) mage its a weight issue. Personally I like the look of Glass armor except for the helm. I llike glass armor mostly cause most of the other armor's are too dark for my PC (mostly good) persona. But when I decide to be bad The GuildMaster armor is the first item I equip.

I've been using a mod called "More Craftables" that has pretty much every unique weapon and armor in the game craftable in a "bare" version. It's extremely useful, although a tad game breaking since a lot of the really powerful armors are in the "steel" quality so they can be crafted relatively early.

Ah, yes. I've seen that mod. It's a nice retex for sure. Maybe after the CK comes out, the modder will do a black craftable bare one....

[My main objection to all the armor in the game - other than the TG GM and DB leathers - is that it's all skirts for fem toons (and sometimes for masc as well). My toons do NOT wear skirts. Tullius can bare his knobby knees all he likes, but I want my girls covered. I simply am not a "chix in chainmail" sort of player - nor an "armor with skirts" one. And here I thought the armor in WoW was bad....]

The giuld master armor is nothing special and as bland as a bowl of white rice. There are much better options.

OT:I can't believe no one hear likes the Markarth guards armour!
Leather and Chainmail, simple and effective.

Depends. I like "bland". Dark, quiet, unobtrusive.... and I don't even play a stealthy type....

What? You have a vendetta against the word? You lost me. And the problem with the guards' armor is that it's - just - not my thing.

Makes my elf's behind looks great, lol. Actually, it's the nicest mod I've seen since the Nicoroshi Creations mod for Oblivion.

I've created a personal mod which adds basic TG armour and Guild Master armour to the game (SkyEdit is an awesome tool  ). Still have to use the console to equip the stuff, but just the same, it's amazing gear. I do prefer to earn the right to wear it, though... and once I do, it's over to the workbench with it. Legendary Guild Master's Armour, SWEET!

Dark? Quiet? Unobtrusive?........

Try broke. Even the poorest Khajiit have nicer clothes than the guild master armor. For something you get for finishing a guild its pretty low rent. It doesn’t even have decent enchantments. The worst part is the armor rating. Even at its max its nothing to brag about. To sum it all up anyone wearing the thieves guild armor looks like a broke thief with bad enchantment taste that is about to die because the wind is getting a bit to strong.
