I grew up in the 80's. And as far as I can remember. The 80's svcked. The 90's pretty much svcked too. And hell, we're in the 00's and yup, they still svck.

Don't really see much to be happy about. But then again, it is 5am here and my 10 month old apparently doesn't know what sleep is so that could be part of it.

However, being from the 80's I can still confirm that they at least did svck.

The 80s is the worst decade since decades were invented. An absolutely nothing decade (Yes, I grew up in the 80s).

I don't see anything in NV that reminds me of the 80s, and I'm pretty thankful about that.

As for the game being conceptualized in the 80s....anyone ever heard of a game called Gamma World? It is/was a paper and pencil RPG. I loved it, and Fallout reminds me of it very much in many ways.

Not sure if you know, but Fallout was inspired by the 80s game 'Wasteland'. I've never played it though, I've only read about Wasteland on Wikipedia.

Yeah - '80s = '50s nostalgia. Heard it Through the Graqevine shrink-to-fit Levi commercials, Rick Astley's hair, James Dean posters.... and then, inexplicably, LEG WARMERS! I hated the '80s.

I loathed the *0's yes I was youngish at the time, the clothes, the style, the tude, the politics all were extremely bad or down right hatefull, the films however were great sci fi, action, block busters anything not about the eighties was a pure thrill.

The nineties were worse, noughties untill now at least had a blend of everyone looking out for change and something better at least in this country.

Keep it in the 30' - early 60's imo as even if things were not better most can't remember outside of books.

The only thing I can think of in NV which reminds me of the 80s is the neon lights - neon colours were big in the 80s, right? And maybe any Mad Max references that are in there (haven't seen it, but I seem to remember a poster on here saying that there were a few).
I don't think I would be too keen on the soundtrack if they did an 80s themed Fallout though

Screw the 80's, I say. Long live the new decade, the 10's. I believe the opposite of typical trends and say the newest decade is best. PS3s/360s, modern computers, HDTVs, MP3 players, and Youtube kick the ass of anything from the 80's, in my opinion.

Well, hey, why doesn't someone make a mod for leg warmers, and clothing with electric pastels? And then put that on a new raider faction and have the player character kill those dudes?

Everyone wins! People who love the eighties get to wear eighties clothes, and people who hate the eighties get to see eighties people brutally slaughtered! But make sure to make it dusty and grungy. It pisses me off that a lot of mods have bright, clean, shiny clothes or guns and that's not how they should look if they've been in the wasteland for hundreds of years! Yes, even hypercolor gets dirty over the passing centuries.

Fallout: New Vegas is based four years after the events of Fallout 3.

In Fallout 3 technology advanced rapidly, although society remained locked in the cultural norms of the 1950's, up until the nuclear bombs in 2077.

The Fallout 3 population is still living with the 1950's societal normality 200 years after this.

Despite the year now being 2281, in the Fallout universe, society doesn't seem to move all that fast for them, and the time era is still 1950's.

Even the convict outfit the "Kings" wear is based on the costume in the 1957 Elvis movie, Jailhouse Rock.

There was nothing '70s about Fallout 3, so why would there be anything '80s about Fallout: New Vegas? :unsure2:

F:NV has the cultural/evolutionary status semblance of looking out todays window, turning the power station switch off, rusting every available metal and plopping debris everywhere.

Where I am from, the 80s was hell for us to live in.

That stuff may be great, but we are lacking on many other things that the 80's had great. Music, film, economy, etc

He just wants an 80's mod, sheesh! I think thats a great idea, it would be cool to have neon bracelets & spiked green hair & spray paint graphitti on the walls. Acid-washed jeans jackets & buttonflys with shredded knees. Not very fallout but as a mod it would be cool. It would take a lot of work tho. Id definately check it out. :foodndrink:

Plus our 80's were in the 20th Centuary. The 80's in Fallout are the 23rd centuary.
