In order to balance campers, they make snipers not a 1shot k

lmao. wow. does every company just insist on there being noob friendly explosives in every game? take out noob toobs if you're going to nerf sniping. end of story. and no, I dont quickscope or 360 montage useless garbage, but having the ability to 1 shot someone (even if its a bolt action like Cod:WAW) felt so rewarding. And if you missed your shot, you were simply mowed down by mp40s. To me, thats where it shows that skill>gun used, but sadly, noob friendly companies dont sell too well with those types of games, so they listen to the outcry of the few, and wonder why their fan base dwindles.

Noob tubes and grenades or any explosives in this game are not 1 hit ko as well. In fact grenades do squat damage, but they knock down the enemy.

So much for researching before opening your mouth, lol.

I like how you complain about a typical one hit kill weapon, "snipers" (which aren't even actual snipers - hence their category of light rifle) aren't one hit kills, yet you assume that grenade launchers are. They aren't - their primary use is as a crowd control mechanism via knocking people off of their feet.

And sure, while you may have felt nice killing someone across the map with one shot, I doubt the victim felt quite so nice. Richard Ham actually said something similar.

ok so i was a little confused by this and this seems like a good place to ask. I know you can be down (can't move, can do other stuff based on what abilities you bought and can be revived by a medic) and you can be dead (have to wait for the respawn timer to end). but then people say that grenades "knock you over." Do they mean that you get downed if you're close to the grenade, or do they mean you fall over and waste time standing back up. Sorry if its a dumb question but people keep using knock out and knocked over and killed, its just a little confusing.

The way I understand it, grenades knock you on your back, but don't knock you out like being filled with lead does. So there are actually three states in the game: Knocked down (you can fire and get back up), knocked out (you are dying and need a medic, can only fire if you have the "perk") and dead (have to wait for respawn).

alright sweet! thats what I was hoping it would be. The only reason I thought it might have been different was in one of the videos the dev has a grenade launcher and he's hitting everybody and numbers keep flying up so I thought he was getting exp. for downs or something.

Honestly, I don't even see the point of replying to this thread since OP probably isn't gonna come back.

I think you get xp for knocking people out, and then extra xp for actually killing them. The vids seem to suggest that you do. I have read that you gain a lot of xp for melee-striking a knocked out opponent, and almost nothing for shooting them when they are down.

I think that was an old video when grenades still did significant damage. If you watch some of the newer vidz from PAX2011, you will see grenades don't down people for very long at all.

Here's one, right at about the 2:00 mark.

Aye, this. I skimmed the thread and notice he hasn't posted since. Probably some kid who wanted to get a kick out of jolting the forumers.

I think that they don't award xp for either of those things, they just award xp for damage, that way, players can still get rewarded just as much as the finishing guys, even if they're softening lots of enemies up and leaving their teammates to finish them.

Also please don't be too hard on this thread starter guys, not everyone can be bothered to go through seas of text and watch all the videos, and considering SD is trying to make the game accsessible with Challenges, ranked servers and lots of on-screen hints, let's not be hostile and ruin it.

If he asked a question, I doubt anyone would lash at him. However, this isn't the case - he's assuming too much and too far, which is especially bad here since we have the Brink Bible, which would quickly answer his question.

Gernades only knock you down.

Knocked down- You have the option to stay down or get back up without help or abilities

Incapacitated- you need a medic and can't move

Dead- You got finished off or chose to spawn on the next wave before a medic could help you

ouchies. lol. no need for the harsh responses about me asking a simple question. i never once said anything about noob toobs being a 1shot in the game, i asked why are noob toobs even in the game..... sure theres the fall back from getting hit by a noob toob, but what happens after that? thats easy. u get hit by another, and another and another. i wouldnt mind them if they just did some damage to you, but not completely knock u on ur ass, and become a sitting duck for another noob toob, or them just spraying at u before u can get up. l2p.

Is "Incapped" a fair way to say "Incapacitated"? Two syllables is easier to say than six when it comes to thsoe cruical teamwork life-or-death situations.
