Patch Coming soon

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 11:26 am

From Gstaff:

"To update, we’ve wrapped up work on the latest Fallout: New Vegas patch and submitted it. Will let you know when it’s up on PS3, 360, and Steam. "

It's only a matter of time before we get it, but it's actually being reviewed and it's almost ready to come out.

Just a quick poll.

I'm thinking a week before DLC sounds about right (December 14th).

If it takes them a whole week to release a patch that's already completed, I'll be steamed that I haven't been Steamed yet and ... I'm hoping for tomorrow or later tonight. :-P

I can't wait for the patch to hopefully fix the Old Cowboy Hat-Strip crashing glitch. When it does that, I'm going to drop the hat from my inventory, teabag it, and burn it with a flamer.

Hope they fix the FPS... It is obsolutely horrible on the PS3, then when the FPS drops you usually crash :cryvaultboy:

It can't take too long to publish, but seeing how much time it has taken, I picked the week before DLC.

Although I would love it to come out this week, that's being a little too optimistic imo.

Kind of funny that a patch has to be reviewed by distributors before it can be released, and yet, they were perfectly okay releasing the game with bugs in the first place. :) I'm not sure what that says about the game industry other than that it's really really bizarre.

Because they completely revamp the site, yet cannot publish a patch.

I play on a PC so the only major problem with the game I have is the CTD now and then. The graphic gliches don't really bother me like the scorpion stuck in a rock now and then.

As far as I am concerned, both Bethesda and Obsidian have absolutely no understanding of what it means to tell the truth. I will believe that the patch is "done" when it has fixed my game and not a moment before.

I will get the patch, because it is OWED to me, but there is no chance in hell that I will be giving these scumbags any more of my hard earned $ for a DLC that will in all probability break the game in even worse ways.

They have no obligation to give you a quality product. They are giving this patch from the bottom of their heart, they aren't giving it to you because they have to. They're giving it to you because they want to. As much as I hate Fallout 3, Bethesda had no obligation to me to give me a game I specifically enjoy.

And this is the kind of attitude that lets games like FNV get released in the condition it was in, and still is, at launch. It's pretty easy to ohhh and ahh over sales figures when you can't return a game once you open it. I would have returned it if I had the option. At this point, I'm not spening a dime on DLC, they've lost me as a customer. I just want what I paid for. You mindless sheep just keep drinking the kool-aid and it will only get worse. Before you know it, we'll be paying for patches.

on PC here..

my opinion on the matter.

At this point a really don't give to shakes. I have close to 300 hrs on this mixed bag of emotions. Half of which had been lost due to corrupt save games. I seriously had got to a point where I am afraid to play the game at all due to possible save game corruptions, or optional quests being broken, or game breaking. This is the only game in my collection (well over 500+ games) that has ever halted my play due to these two reasons alone.

But more upsetting than having a dissapointing game session/sessions.. is the way the powers at be have chosen to "handle" the outcry for communication. I don't know who's idea it was to say as little as possible.. management, community supervisor, "industry standard" for such things in fear of a possible backfire. But the communication from Obsid/Beth have been less than respectfull to me as a consumer and in my opinion on the whole to its community. From the time of release to current, there has been only one mini patch.. that consequently bugged lever action weapons and revolvers to key commands.. but worse.. three or four short sentenced quips on what they are working on, and at that.. no specifics.

Ok.. I understand the need to be cautious to the community in what is shared as a fix... but wouldn't it have been nice for somebody to actually say to it's community..

1. An appology
2. What we have recognized as issues from the community and working on
3. We are here.. we are reading and we APPREICATE the feedback
4. We are doing our best in the most timely manner to accomadate a better environment from which this culture can grow.

hell ANYTHING that represents that the communities comment, queries, concerns, and optimism is being read, understood and respected.

not the.. "we will let you know when its done", now we shut the door and give you the cone of silence.

I am tired of it. FoNV is an outstanding game (fear aside, bugs aside, poor communication aside) and has the potetial to capture many an hour of post apoc wanderlust. But on a tip of simple purveyor/consumer respect.. I find myself flat to ever purchase another game from Beth again.. I don't care what the IP is, because they have shown simply how easy it is to ignore its dissapointed fanbase (if thats not you then ignore) instead of findiing a better way to use professional damage control. Right now it's.. Here's your game.. don't work? to bad.. we've said all we are going to on the matter. Clank.

done

I don't care when it comes out or what it fixes. I'm doing ok right now so what ever they give me is fine as long as it helps the people who have really bad problems.

ty Taci.. that is a very kind response and much appreciated. I would say that the majority of the game runs fine for me as well. But its that one instance, 60 hours deep into game where all the sudden out of no where is a CTD when leaving a doorway/vault/quest only to not be able to reload due to corrupt file. Renaming bak does nothing for both cases. There is no option other than to start new. I could honestly care less about losing ED-E, my companions running off, weapons being lost, dead mobs falling through the earth/stuck, VATS not working properly (ie.. making crit animation/sound but doing no damage at all), lever action bug, invisible walls.. on and on..

The game breaker is investing a great deal of time only to have to start over that simply scares me not to play. And there is NO reason to have 10 saves, and rename/locate bak. files in fear of possible corruption. Which is what I am currently doing "just in case". Absurd. My game is not playing, its preserving.

Worse. the lack of comradery or connections to its players from the devs/publisher.

again.. ty for being supportive Tace.

cheers

WTH? A cowboy hat causes your game to crash?

I don't really need a patch, because I haven't gotten many issues.

However, I do realize that there are some major bugs and issues on all platforms, so I'd rather see the patch come out sooner than later.

Other way around. The game will black screen crash if he doesn't have the hat in his inventory. It's a scripting issue with a particular quest.
