People who started with Skyrim (did you go back)

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:15 pm

Skyrim is my first TES game, people like me I pose this question to you. Did you go back and play Daggerfall, morrawind, oblivion and if so how did it compare/feel to Skyrim? I have oblivion and morrowind here should I start playing them?

The first TES game I played was Oblivian, and it stinks compared to Skyrim!

I didn't start with Skyrim but it's the first TES I've played seriously.
No, I don't think I will be going back. I got good impressions from Morrowind but I just can't get around to play it. Oblivion I didn't like at all besides guilds.

Same here. Well, I played Morrowind for awhile. I just never finished it. I was an Argonian psychopath. Oblivion I just kept rerolling and just fudged around with it's open world. I didn't like Oblivion gates.

I started with Oblivion (though I must confess that I have not completed the game)

I have got Morrowind but I have not played that yet.

I think I might have to look into getting the other games as well.

The only problem is finding the time to play all of the games as there are other games that I would also like to play.

I started with Oblivion, I tried to play Morrowind not too long after i got Skyrim because my brother was borrowing Skyrim and i had nothing else to do, it was fun for a little while but that game is dang hard and i didn't get anywhere. i ended up having a disease that drained all my strength which meant i had to drop everything just to move and i couldn't find a shrine to cure it. i was running around everywhere as a naked Khajiit because they don't have underwear O.o
i'll try to play it again sometime but i'll probably need tips on what the hell i need to do .-.

I've had my eye on TES for a while...

I had paltry interest in earlier titles but ultimately was not really entertained by them.

I did see there charm... just not for me.

Never been able to warm to Oblivion...though I have put a fair bit of time into it.
Morrowind is difficult to adjust to...and playing it is a little bit like work...but if you can get into it, it's a great game. I like it better than Oblivion.

i played oblivion for about an hour until i realized how miserable it would be trying to optimizing stat gains through level ups. im a bit of a perfectionist.

that said, skyrim is the only tes game ive played thoroughly.

I've played every Elder Scrolls since Daggerfall, but I haven't played any of them since Skyrim came out.

I've been itching to go back to the Shivering Isles though. :(

Completed Morrowind and Oblivion and played both afterwards with mods. After Skyrim, neither seem particularly pretty, although they may still be interesting enough. Morrowind was very immersive and had a sort of uniqueness to it. The sound of the Silt-striders near towns, for instance. And the damned cliff racers. Oblivion, well, it was a very good game for me. I do dream of an updated version of Morrowind, really. Or Daggerfall, since I never did play that.

started with oblivion, I really liked it. It holds the most hours played of any game to date for me. I went back to morrowind and it was neat but it was kinda hard to get into, but I think it would be a great place to start. Arena and daggerfall are free, and I plan to eventually play daggerfall (and at least dabble in arena even thought daggerfall is said to be better) and if Bethesda ever plans to make Battlespire and redguard available for free, I might be interested.

started with Morrowind. Played OB to death, now playing Skyrim to death.

I love all of them, all different in their ways, but all good.

Well, theyre all great games... but each one is less " pick-up-and-play " in reverse order... and what I mean is they require a larger amount 0f dedication to get any whare and have a steeper learning curve...

Which presents a greater sense or acomplishment and a more fullfilling experiance but is un fortunatly developmentaly paradoxial in that these same aspects alienate alot of gamers...

Somthing I think ( and Beth probably knows it ) Bethesda still needs to find a way to balance.

For christs sake if you do play any of the previous games DO NOT ditch them just because of some [censored] screw up on your part.

Many people are wandering about in a "I hate that old ????"daze just because they didnt understand how it worked.

I never played any of the TES games before Skyrim from what I have heard and seen I got the wrong title. If future TES releases are anything like Skyrim I will not be taken part in them.I may try and get a hold of Oblivion.

I started with Oblivion. I looked into seeing if my pc would handle any of the games and the answer was probably not. definetly not with mods, and that would be half the fun for me.

I liked Oblivion, so much so that by the time Skyrim came out my disk was almost unplayable. The Gates did get tedious after awhile. Alot of times I would run in and see if the towers looked different, if they did I would try them out, if not I would go back out.

I started with Oblivion and for me it was the one game that got me on board with BGS entirely. I never knew of TES or Bethesda before getting the game. But I heard so much good about it, that it was a sandbox RPG with amazing graphics, etc and so on.

From there they stole my lifeforce with Fallout 3, New Vegas (don't even really count this under BGS), and now Skyrim. Skyrim was everything and more then what I wanted it to be.. and I'll prolly never "seriously" go back. I might pick up Oblivion off of Games on Demand one day to see the difference with my new 1080p HDMI TV. Like I did with Fallout 3 (only 8$ used in great condition at GameStop).

Sadly.. finding a GOOD copy of Oblivion recently is a QUEST in itself. Pun intended. XD

I started with Morrowind on XBOX, played 100s of hours, it was hard to learn what to do in the beginging but it was a great game.
Got Morrowind on PC , played with the mods and everything, much beter game on PC.

Then got OB on XBOX 360, didn't care for closing the gates but the guilds and DB was a blast.
Got OB on PC and played it with a bunch of fun mods, liked it but still think Morrowind is better.

I now have Skyrim on 360, it's the best one ive played in some ways, but does seem like it was made with consoles in mind.
Hope to get it on PC later once the mods community gets built up.

I think if you started with Skyrim you own it to yourself to check out some of the older ES games, especially Morrowind, it's so unique.
