Perk Trees You Wish Existed

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 12:06 pm

The idea just really hit me that there are some perk trees that I really wish was in the game. Nothing too much but the thought just seemed nice. One perk tree I thought of would be a race perk tree, you know Nord, Argonian etc. and youd get perk points for using your racial ability like battle cry or histskin. Perks that you could get could be to allow you to use your racial ability more than once or to upgrade the potency and the biggest perk ive thought of so far is to give another boost to skills that the race is supposed to be good at. Man I wish those sort of perks existed.

Another perk tree I had in mind is perk tree for staffs. As a recent topic of space on skyrim. gmentioned, staffs are sort of a waste of space in Skyrim. They do what you can do and they dont even give you expierience. You cant even really use it in close quarter combat which is a huge problem when tank soldiers are rushing a mage. Some extremly useful perks I can think of are:

A perk to increase the magnitude of your spellpower to add incentive to use staffs. People would love it if their destruction spells did double or triple the damage as normal. Just like the sneak attack multiplier.

A perk that joins a staffs magic to yours instead of being restricted to charge and adds a reduction to spell cost when using staffs.

Since we cant make our own staffs and every staff being sold is high as giraffe [censored] it would be really cool if staffs werent so restricted to one spell. A much better system would be to dual wield all staffs like bows while spells become 'arrows'. So you could fire off great fireballs here, switch to a large flamethrower there and finish off by twirling up a firestorm. Sounds great to me. just like you would switch from ebony to glass arrows.

lastly, Id like it if staffs benifitted more from bash perks you know like bashing with a staff could disarm an opponent or knock them off their feet. Just a way to defend against the the enemies that always ger right in front of you.

Just some perk trees I wish were in the game....

nice~ I'd like a pet perk tree

and some other good ideas are;
horse combat perk trees
'physical' trap perk trees (instead of magical)
harvest perk trees (growing your own crops at a garden like at archmage's room)
and maybe, hit location trees (aiming for specific body parts having more effect, IE legs slow down, arms lower damage, heads give crit)

but yeah, I'd love a pet perk tree the most - so I could have a poisonous spider or a werebear druid duo thing going (nature magic anyone?)

I'd love an unarmed tree as well as some unarmed weapons. A shout tree would also be really cool with perks like increasing the power on the offensive shouts or reducing the cooldown.

I thik a Shout perk tree would be useful, considering when you get to higher levels, things like Fire/Frost breath are mostly useless.. and infact im pretty sure things like the Disarm shout dont work on the higher levels.

I cant believe I forgot that. Dragonborn perk tree! We got a little taste of that on the throat of the world. Reduced cooldowns and increasedotency sounds great. Im sure theres a lot more that could be done with that.

general perks like immunities and increased speed. and, loosely related, a perk that makes the telekinesis not lame.

Unarmed *but i could see this effecting Werewolves making them stupidly OP, but hey ho it's the players choice*

That's about it, it would be nice to see Acrobatics but i just can't see how they would intergrate it, i could see it being about as useful as the lockpicking tree... *not much*

Honestly most people just want to see current ones improved, most of them just being new spells added or bugs fixed with certain perks.

Acrobatics.

I am sick to death of not being able to jump on ledges- or swing a sword in a downstroke as i fall, or jump with my bow knocked. Or not being faster in my leathers than the guy in daedric plate behind me.

Acrobatics. For now mods have to do but really a slap in the face to us fragile speedster types.

I'd love to see a survival skills perk tree, with perks related to things like building campfires, crafting traps, bandaging wounds, tailoring, cooking, avoiding hypothermia, collecting hides and ingredients from animals, etc.

Pole-Arm Weapon Skill Tree
-Includes Spears, Halberds, and Scythes
-Includes power attacks that ignore armor, sweep people off their feet, stun and decapitate
-Ability to attack multiple foes with the long reach

Unarmed Skill Tree
-Increases the damage dealt by unarmed attacks
-Increase the stamina damage dealt by unarmed attacks
-Increase speed of attacks and introduce kicks and/or stances
-Decrease the stamina it takes to use power attacks

Shout Skill Tree
-Decrease the cooldown of shouts
-Increase shout effectiveness
-All attacking shouts stun nearby hostile enemies
-Stealth shouts make you go invisible for a few seconds

Just a few ideas I'd toss up there. But I like some of your TC; I can see some working with tweaks.

I think if they had more weapons/types, that it would be worth while to separate weapon smithing and armor crafting. Each tree would be similar in structure, but would only effect weapons or armor. Like a muti level "sharpeness/hardness" perk for slightly more damage or armor when crafting.

This isnt really a perk tree, but kinda fits in. But I think a perk perhaps, to allow using spells like flame and spark to temporarily "enchant" your current weapon with additional elemental damage. Nothing too strong like an actual enchantment, but strong enough to be worth while.
