Perks you regret picking?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:23 pm

Yea. In the two handed skill I picked a warhammer skill which I really wasn`t interested in, but I wanted to max out all my two-handed sword skills and get to the top tier.

That`s what I don`t like about this system. You find that pretty soon you`re forced away from the one skill you want to be good at (the two-handed sword) and off onto something else like the two-handed warhammer.

I would prefer to stick witha particular weapon (my sword). Just felt wasted to me.

Skullcrusher, the only warhammer specific perk, is not required to reach the top tier. Same with Deepwounds, same with Limbsplitter. Your not forced away from, or onto, anything.

whatever the name of the crit chance for swords is (1h)
the first perk on the right since of the heavy armor tree
I regret HAVING to take a few others for the one beyond them.

In a way, I kind of regret the one that lets me move at a jog while blocking. It broke the difficulty of the game entirely. Now, even mages can't get the time and space to hurt me.

I never picked Quick reflexes because i knew for a fact it would get annoying as hell.
Anyways, i regret choosing the pcikpocketing perks that increase the chance of stealing. % chances don't mean [censored] in this game. It's like every item has a 50/50 chance of getting stolen, no matter what the % chance. That's about it...

Same here on my first character (my second is dual wielding so not an issue). I had doubts on this perk so I didn't take it. I'll probably never will either readin the OP's description.

None, because at no point while playing did I reach the level cap and thus stopping myself from taking new perks.

This but then relised my mistake and reloaded an earlier save. (now I save before I choose a perk)

All the smithing perks, the elemental upgrade perks in the enchanting tree, and anything in the speech tree.

I have to rescind the part smithing perks. At least as far as daedric in heavy, as they also effect weapons. :P

I love Quick Reflexes :) Especially when it bugs out when I'm faced by two power-attacks at once, and freezes time and lets me run around and kill all my enemies. In a non-exploitive news, it is also invaluable for my two-handed weapon user, giving me more time to parry and pulverize.

Sorry I picked the the increases magica regen perk in the resto group. Doesn't seem to be any increase at all after using those two points.

This thread would be really handy if it was stickied.

I regret dual-wield. Once I took the block skills, including the ones some people aren't keen on here, dual-wield became a waste.

My character essentially became a shield and axe specialist.

Anything on the right side of the Block tree (bash-related), dual casting, Recovery, Respite, and Eagle Eye. Arguably Bone Breaker as well since, according to UESP, none of the enemies have any armor perks.

Anything past novice in any magic skill, after seeing the 100% casting reduction from enchanting.

Wat. Dual casting is almost mandatory for a mage. I also found Eagle Eye very helpful on my archer.

Agreed, unless you like running around dual casting and Impact are pretty much required for destruction mages. Granted I haven't really done the whole illusion/paralysis side of the mage spells.

Oh and Yeah Eagle eye is very nice for my archer girl long range shooting.

I put a perk or 2 is restoration, at the time I did not know there were so many healing potions laying around skyrim or that I could spam the crap out of them in combat.

Things that made my Nord unplayable even on Master:

Spellbreaker (Dragons NEVER touch me, yes I know I can just unequip it but..)
Elemental Protection (Heavy, LV50.. reduces incoming Fire, Frost, Shock by 50%, combined with Spellbreaker makes you GOD.)
Quick Reflexes (Loved it at first, then agree with the OP I became too good at it. IMHO it's more cheap then VATS in Fallout.)

Get the Atronach Stone as well? Yeah.. no magic of any forms touching you.. gets kinda boring after awhile. I thought I'd never get bored of my Nord but I did. I find my Imperial now my "favorite" to play.. meaning have more fun.

I don't really regret any yet, but I usually take a long time to figure out which one I want the most.
