Permanent Goo and Ash Piles

Post » Sat May 07, 2011 11:42 am

It would be better if the character models disintegrated downwards, instead of just faded slightly and vanishing. Also, if the ash/goopiles started small and grew bigger instead of simply blinking in from nowhere.

Huh, I didnt know enemies didnt respawn when you dematerialize them. That actually turns me off from energy weapons almost entirely. The goo/ash pile problem was never much of an issue due to the fact that they are just a few keystrokes from being gone for good using console commands, but I do hope they fixed this issue.

Never really noticed the everlasting goo puddles on the xbox.. but maybe I just didn't return to those areas to check. I mean once I cleared an area I didn't go back.
I actually don't like re-spawning of human, ghoul or super mutant enemies ... It doesn't make too much sense that they'd be replaced so fast. Creature enemies doesn't bother me as much. What I would really like to see is once you've cleared an area of human enemies.. settlers or factions that your friendly with move in to those areas. Or maybe scavenger creatures.

I agree. I do like going back to some areas to explore or to setup base and it just doesnt feel right that 3 days or so later they pop up again. I think having them replaced with scavengers/wild life/friendly settlers after they were killed by the PC would be a great idea

Well, not being able to loot it would be extremely frustrating, even game breaking, as you could potentially lose very rare and valuable, maybe unique items due to the whole disintegration thing if you couldn't lose them, even vital quest items could potentially be lost forever.

If it's going to remain in the game, which I think it will, it's necessary that you be able to loot them.

Not really. What could be done is that if you dematerialized them and they have a vital quest item it could be automatically moved to a storage box of theirs. If they are a respawning type of character then they could respawn with the item until you take it.

The goo and ash piles in vanilla need one tweak from the original version.
A Script on the ash and goo piles with On Load block with a counter which disabled and marks them for delete.
They vanish every time with this.

Once I got this into a mod, I went back to killing stuff with lasers, plasma, and alien weapons.

Enemys still respawn with this, even the Talon Company mercs I ashed :)

SCN SomeScriptNameScriptShort TimesBegin OnLoad	Set Times to Times + 1	If Times >= 2 Disable MarkForDelete	EndIfEnd

yes

Is that your favorite word, stranger? Seriously, stop being so agreeable. It's starting to get a little creepy. Oh, and what gave you the impression that burnt or goo-ifyed enemies never respawn? On another note, looting goo or ash piles doesn't have to be unrealistic. Think of it like in Star Trek First Contact when they melted the Borg with Plasma Coolant. The organic components are all gone but the weapons and armor remain.

It would be nice if plasma rifles, instead of turning people into goo, shot a hole in someone that you can see thourgh

Does anyone know if Fallout New Vegas will have the permanent goo and ash piles fixed? Those were so annoying in Fallout 3 ( Xbox user so I couldn't delete them ). Thanks in advance.

I think there already was a topic on this but I don't think so :( I hate them too or at least the plasma goo I didn't really mind the ashes.

So you think goo and ash piles will remain in the same place bubbling/smoldering even though in game it has been almost 1 full year after youve turned them into goo/ash.

That is why I am personally all for goo/ash piles disappearing after so long.

Hmmm, I never had such a problem with Energy Weapons. Any goo/ash piles I would create out of enemies, went away after a while, the enemies never came back though, or maybe they did, I can't recollect whether they did or not at the moment.

I'm seeing a lot of people say that this turned them off of energy weapons. It certainly did for me, which is a shame, because energy weapons are one of the big draws of the Fallout universe.

That's why I ended up liking the Gauss Rifle because it behaved like a Small Gun (which is what it really is, so it doesn't really count). So I really hope they do fix it in some way, as in doing away with the piles altogether (my preference), or at least making them disappear like normal bodies.

I hated Goo Piles or Ash seems too Bad.. Like too unrealistic.. not even funny or anything.. Just plain Bad.

They should just leave Markings on the body.

Anything but ash/Goo.
