Permanent Goo and Ash Piles

Post » Sat May 07, 2011 7:55 am

When ever you kill an enemy with a critical hit with an energy weapon they dematerialize, whether its a goo splatter or a pile of ash it would never go away. turn some one to ash at the start of the game when you hit level 30 that pile of ash will still be there.... and that enemy wont respawn again. so thats why i dont like using energy weapons in fallout 3, annoying green puddles all over the landscape is just weird.so i really hope obsidian makes the Ash piles and Goo splatters dissapear over time. if they are permanent i wont touch an energy weapon....

I think, instead of a goo or ash pile, it should be a goo-covered or charred skeleton (with ash around it). Not sure how well that would play with dismemberment.

They could just do that, but minus whatever body part you dismembered eh?

I dunno, it makes sense in my mind :D

I still see the goo pile, but it says [EMPTY] when I try to search it. Sometimes, there's goo piles there when I didn't even shoot anyone in that area, so I wouldn't say they're necessarily enemies that will never respawn again, but maybe just decoration goo.

I like the idea of a charred skeleton with goo pile, sounds more real than just a pile of slime.

yeah the Mister Gutsy's would dematerialize dogs and stuff if you randomly find green goo in the wastes, but still i really hope obsidian makes them dissapear after a while, the fact that they stuck there forever in Fallout 3 was the only reason i didnt use energy weapons.

NPCs with energy weapons and robotic creatures can turn their enemies into piles of goo or ash, too.

Hopefully that's not the case with FNV, and the piles dissolve after 24 to 48 hours. I noticed that if you don't take every item on an enemy, that too will keep their dead corpse around a lot longer, than if you loot every item/"Take all".

I agree theres a goopile that was made when I was a lvl 8 and I am now a lvl 30 and its still there. How ever I noticed no more respawns for some npc`s.

Personally I think when you clear a building it should stay cleared unless they spawn in a new enemy. Dont spawn in the same enemy after you already cleared them out. Thats what bugged me with the relay stations, I would clear them out but they would always respawn giving me un ending junk that I didnt need nor want.

It wouldn't be as bad if the goo/ash actually looked realistic. I thought the goo/ash in FO3 was sooo terrible, like when it's on a slant it's floating, not even touching the ground. It was this basic, solid image that couldn't grip to surfaces, it just seemed to sit there. They should make it runny and fluid, so that if it's on a slope the goo runs down it, or in ash's case atleast just not be so basic, and be more spread out or something instead of having that compact, identical look that we had in FO3.

A "dispose of remains" option when viewing the inventory of the deceased would be nice.

This is something I miss from Morrowind. If I remember correctly, you'd just hit Dispose and every item on the corpse would be looted, the loot window closed, and the corpse would disappear. This function didn't make it to Oblivion for some reason, and continued to be left out in Fallout 3. I don't suppose it would be hard to add it back in, it doesn't need to be a low-level game-engine function, a simple script attached to the loot function would suffice.

You know, that would be pretty nice.

Although lasers should rarely, if ever, actually burn a human sized target into ash, I would say. Rather, they should simply cut off limbs, after all, a laser is a very focused beam, and I doubt tthat even one powerful enough to be used as a weapon like in Fallout would be able to burn an entire human being's body into ash like that if it was such a small beam as we're shown in Fallout 3, the ash piles should be reserved for a different type of weapon if they're used.

I do hope that ash piles and goo piles despawn in New Vegas, though, and I really don't see how it could be that hard to do it.

Never really noticed the everlasting goo puddles on the xbox.. but maybe I just didn't return to those areas to check. I mean once I cleared an area I didn't go back.
I actually don't like re-spawning of human, ghoul or super mutant enemies ... It doesn't make too much sense that they'd be replaced so fast. Creature enemies doesn't bother me as much. What I would really like to see is once you've cleared an area of human enemies.. settlers or factions that your friendly with move in to those areas. Or maybe scavenger creatures.

Well, not being able to loot it would be extremely frustrating, even game breaking, as you could potentially lose very rare and valuable, maybe unique items due to the whole disintegration thing if you couldn't lose them, even vital quest items could potentially be lost forever.

If it's going to remain in the game, which I think it will, it's necessary that you be able to loot them.

Yea that is true,I don't mind the looting so much as the ash/goo pile.
