Places to buy parts

Post » Sat Dec 03, 2011 4:29 pm

Hello. I thought this one id a little interesting and useful topic for this for all of you computer nerds out there (myself included). Where do YOU get your parts? I get mine from Newegg because it is cheap, humble, and most items have free (2-day) or discount shipping. Do you have a better place online that you go to? tell me and I will add it to the list!

This.

Generally prefer Frys, though, as no shipping, generally same price as Newegg, and I have to pay taxes either way.

List needs Frys and shouldn't group Amazon and ebay in the same boat (nothing alike)

Amazon does host a user area for sales, but Ebay is completely users selling. I am aware of that. I put this here to reference just to any place that does not really specailize in electronics. I will add frys to the list after i see what it is. I have never heard of it.

Newegg all the way. If not them, then I'd consider Amazon. Retail stores' prices and inventory variety just plain svck

Given the choice, Newegg, but if it's a part I urgently need and can't wait to have it shipped, Best Buy is a 10-minute drive from my house.

NCIX and Tiger Direct

NCIX is a Canadian retailer. I want to try to keep the list down to International companies for the ease on me adding every single company in the world, but since it is a large national company, I will accept it. Just please, only try to say the big companies (especially in europe, where the countries are smaller) because adding every one will make the list a little too large, and I do not know about you, but I am lazy and do not like having to move my finger more than 3 times to scroll to the bottom of a page.

I feel like i've been reprimanded for posting where i buy my computer parts.

You have an "other button." Why is this an issue?

Always use NCIX. I've never had an issue with their price and I get what I ordered in 2-4 days. Not to mention they have pretty good deals a lot of the time.

I'd consider Amazon at least as tech-oriented as Best Buy

Though my point was Amazon is an actual retailer, ebay is an auction site.

I get the majority of my parts from Newegg, and occasionally Amazon or Tigerdirect depending on who has the best price. If I need/want something quickly I will go to my local Micro Center computer store.

Mostly from Newegg, as they have good prices and ship quickly. Also, they gave me a line of credit.
I've purchased parts from TigerDirect, Amazon, BestBuy, and MicroCenter in the past, as well.

Amazon, Fry's, Newegg, and Microcenter.

Fry's is preferable to me since they price-match online prices these days and well...it's local so no wait time.

Amazon due to no taxes for Californians...yet.

Newegg for selection.

Microcenter for their crazy CPU and MOBO deals.

Ooh, I'll need to look into that, then. I'm planning on building my own desktop soon and so far I've only looked at parts on Newegg. If I can get a good deal on two of the most expensive parts of the PC, that'd be excellent.

For me, Newegg and Amazon. Their prices tend to be lowest and a no-hassle return policy for most everything. Fast shipping too.

MSY its an Australian chain of computer shops you've never heard of except if you live in Australia and like computers. They sell stuff dirt cheap and its great quality stuff. Well you know the unbranded $3 keyboards and stuff aren't but you catch my drift.

Lemma see about the FutureShop. I just want to have the big companies in here so i do not have a mile-long list. I have an other button for a reason...

*does minimal research*

The FutureShop is a Canadian retailer which is Partially owned by Best Buy. Again, I will only put in the International Businesses for ease of scrolling. The list is already very long.

I buy at a local store. First because their prices are the same or close to any Newegg equivalent, and second, I get the service after sale if needed. I often look at Newegg for descriptions and what not though, but the fact that they don't have a storehouse in Canada means I might have to pay taxes when it crosses the border, which I don't have to worry from the local store.

NB. FutureShop and BestBuy are the same. I work at FS and on my paycheck it says BestBuy... so, draw your conclusions.
