12:40 p.m.: Federal officials said two F-16 fighter jets were launched as a precaution after the crash, though terrorist intent was not indicated.

I'm more afraid of taxes than terrorist....

Couldn't the F-16's have shot down the IRS?

It appears to be intentional.

The perpetrator has been identified as Joseph Andrew Stack. The plane was his (not stolen, as some reports had it), and witnesses say it was flown full throttle into the building. Stack was a tax protester and had also set fire to his house earlier today.

These forums will not be used to publish or discuss Stack's apparent suicide note or the form or rationale of his tax protest due to the rule against politics. You can read it for yourself elsewhere.

I like how the people at recent press conference denied everything the news media and blogs have uncovered so far. I'm not one to distrust "the man," but it really makes you think.

That we know of yet... I find it a bit hard to believe that only 3 people were in that entire building...

I heard that building has 190~ employees based on the time of the crash I'd say it struck around break time.

The man who crashed the plane wanted to die and was trying to to do damage. No one was killed. What is the difference between this and it just collapsing.

I just hope none of the people in the building die or suffer any permanent damage due to the crash.

He also tried to kill his wife and daughter. They were rescued by neighbors.

It is only because of good fortune, good Samaritans, and reasonably well-carried-out emergency action that nobody other than the perpetrator was killed.

Nothing funny about it at all.
