Please give me a "turn-off-thecollar"- cheat so I ca

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:17 pm

Either that or some "jump past the Vault" cheat.
I have done 95% of the dlc and I refuse to spend another hour with "Try this. Boom. Try that. Boom."

If you want to skip the row below I later found a mod at a certain very popular mod-site. Google dead money mods and you should find it in a few secs.

l2speaker.

There are two destructible speakers in the big room before the one with the holograms. Then you have to run up to the terminal to disable the shielded ones.

You should really take a nice, long break from the DLC and either play something else or do something else. Go back to it when you're zen.

I don't know if there's a PC cheat, but I'd bet real money that there isn't one for consoles.

Exactly where are you stuck? Did you just enter the "vault area" (radios, turrets, holograms, and the Vault proper), or did you enter The Vault proper (gold, armor, computers)? Are you somewhere else? Maybe we can help you through it...?

It's not the developer's fault that you can't play the game.

*Sigh*

I am stuck say 10 meters in after the elevator, at the point where you start having to run and jump while the collar is beeping. I looked for speakers but I just cant see them from the door and spot them on the run? I started but I am sick and tired of the death animation. In 100 hrs of gaming I died like 4-5 times, and I learnt from every single death, like "ok thats how a powder charge looks like. Now I know, wont happen again." (Ok so it DID happen again but at least I just got crippled)
There is nothing to learn here just repetition "Is the speaker here? No. Boom. OK I try over there... Boom."
Up till now I could back off , look and think. "Hmm the border of the speaker goes here.. aha!" But all to often I had rush in and look for it. Not my style.

Thanks for the offer but I dont think any advice in the world can give me faster reflexes.
Reflexes wich, I migth add , isnt required in the "base-game", thou I am sure it helps or alow (?) yet another play-style,, wich is nice

Yeah you are rigth a break is in order.

I think the first speaker is right above the door you enter.

Daveh is right. This should not be a Super Mario brother rat race. None of the Fallout DLC are like this one, but then Obscenian design this one. The DLC was designed for the teenager crowd for mass sale appeal and NOT to emulate the Fallout series feel/appeal. BLEH ... I too would like a remove the bloody collar cheat code just to finish the scatalogical mess and get back to the game. Btw ... even New Vegas falls short of the Fallout 3 experience. But then the work was out sourced to Obscenian.

Oh, PeterF you opinion is meaningless drivel and hate speech. Daveh does have a point.

Gab, you can put a 100 monkeys at keyboards and eventually they type out the Gettysburg address. It is plan stupid to find which light scokt is dead by sticking your finger into everyone. Like DAH! This DLC is not a puzzle or a mystery. Let's see Obsidian who mucked up NWN with NWN2 and now trashed Fallout NV with this arcade DLC ... hmmmm.

Oh but for the love of Bruce Willis, just look around, trial and error, don't expect to make it through the first time, run out and carefully look around for it, once you find it then reload and shoot it, simple as that.
If you can't shoot it then try to look around for a way to turn it off or see if you can run past it.
If you keep dying at the same area then you're clearly doing something wrong, so try a different approach.

[edit]

I don't like that the DLC is SAW: Wasteland Edition either but is it too much to ask that you're patient?
That you look around carefully?
That you use strategy over "shoot them mothacluckas!"?
Seriously, I did just fine, I had some problems with the triple holograms but I carefully approached it and tried to find a way past it and did.
If you can't get past it then you are doing something wrong.
But to get mad because you have to adapt to a new gameplay element does not mean that Obsidian did anything wrong or that they are to blame for you not doing it right.
In fact, Obsidian introduced this new creative gameplay element to up the challenge for us players and to give the DLC it's own fresh survival atmosphere.
Should we just wallow around in the same repetitive speech challenge or shoot 'em up crap for all DLC's?
I hate that this DLC is a game within a game, but as it's own mini-game it's a damn good one and the negative critique it gets because people can't/won't adapt to it is ridiculous.
Did you not have to adapt to the game when you started it for the first time?
Well, now you've started a new game, Dead Money, so adapt.

If you can't then you can't, not much to do about it.
If you won't then it's your own fault.

I agree with PeterF. It makes me laugh that people go 'DIS GAEM NO CHALLENGE'. Then when it IS challenging, people whine and moan about it being 'The developers fault that I couldnt beat it'. Seriously, just because it's not a run and gun DLC doesnt put them at fault, it puts you the player at fault.

This thread has gone OT.

The OP has been answered and you have even offered additionaly advice and strategy that have worked for you. Big thanks. Realy, it IS nice that you take your time to help. :hugs: :icecream:

The rest is just a debate of taste, expectations, "What makes a game Fallout" and there are other threads about that.
(And I feel I can only loose such a debate anyway... :bolt: )

Amen brother ... amen! The mindlessness of the game play is distrubing. There was an old board game called Titan once ... all you did was roll dice ... no thought ... just roll dice. *gag*

I found a cheat mod at a certain popular mod-site. Since I dont know the rules about linking I wont post a link here, but you can google it.
The mod alowed me to ignore the speakers, so I could take my time making the jumps, and handle the other dangers.
Note it alowed me to ignore the speakers not another nasty suprise Elijah threw at me, but that was something I could get rigth with some thinking and a retry.

And suddenly DM didnt seem so bad. Sad yes but that was the intent of the designers, I suppose.
I will turn of the mod and take a final look around, just looking at the casino and the artwork, perhaps gamble a little.
And look at Veras hologram. Poor woman.

If your finding the Vault, as the last few dozen minutes of the dlc, a bit frustrating I can't blame you. At first reading the topic it felt redundant as your asking if you can bypass one of the dlcs most prominent features/challenges(However annoying/Badly placed they may be). I can feel your pain. For PC players there's probably a mod. Doubt a console command. Your easiest bet is using the video guides for the vault on youtube. Also I agree that comming back to the game later is a good way to go. Hard to do much when your in a grrrrr state.

Here's a good cheat: Bring only one bar. It makes you go liek super fast. Also, don't hesitate with the speakers in your mad dash, just think of them as speed pads from Sonic games.

lol, it isn't even that hard. Sure it made it a challenge but still, that was just easy.

You have to be slightly tactical and look for the speakers.
