please remove pickpocketing skill

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 9:26 pm

i seriously hate this skill
i have enchanted ring, gauntlets, necklaces all with better pickpocketing, i need to improve my pickpocketing because it was my lowest skill of them all ( go figures i hate using it )
basically i use those enchanted items and i am able to steal most items except enchanted rings or necklaces people have with a total of 90% accuracy
pretty good HMMM????
well it should be! but i'm caught almoust 50% of ALL THE DAMN TIME!
pickpocketing is the most USELESS skill tree out of all of them
i understand sneak is precious
lockpicking has it's uses
the thief trees are almoust all usefull except stupid pickpocketing!
why would i want to steal eldar cheese wedges, sweet rolls, silver necklaces, silver rings, apple pies and baked potatoes???? that's what most npc's have and oh a little bit of gold like 5 or 10 gold PPFFTT big deal..
if there's no actual meaningfull use for this skill then why in the bloody hell is it there to begin with? pickpocketing is dull, lacks alot of interest and is hard to come by.
the only good thing about pickpocketing is the fact that it grows FAST that's good because i dont want to be stuck at loading saving re-loading again to aovid getting in trouble whenever i'm caught AGAIN!
And i suppose the skills you can choose from pickpocketing a "few" of them are interesting, specially if you reach 100, u can remove npc's clothes.
now that for as far as being funny has no MEANING whatsoever...
Does it help you in any way? NO
A skill is valuable as long as it helps you, i dont care if i steal other people's clothes and leave them walking around only in panties and bra or just ragged robes, why would i want that?
In my opinion pickpocketing should be replaced with another usefull skill/tree in the thief branch.

There's a perk in the pickpocketing tree called "Extra Pockets" which gives you an extra 100 lbs of carrying weight, and is a fantastic perk.

Lockpicking has no perk that measure up to that. But I do agree with you that as you level some PCs should carry some more valuable things on them.

They probably could have combined lockpicking and pickpocket into some kind of rogue/thievery perk tree, and then had a tree for acrobatics/athletics.

Pickpocket is a powerful skill, but it does NOT deserve it's own skill. It should have just been a branch of another skill.(possibly lockpick) I would have much preferred H2H

thats what I as barking all 2011, for sneak/Lockpicking/Pickpocketing to all be one skill, with Perks to differentiate what kind of "thief" you are.. the moment It was stated Pickpocketing was a skill again I flipped....

Don't really need it or any of its perks, just max out lockpicking/pickpockting by doing it when at 100 Lockpicking/Pickpocketing unlocking and every level of lock becomes easy as well you get a 90% chance to steal just by maxing pickpocket.

In my opinion anyway.

I don't think any of us Long Haulers were really too happy about pickpocketing being it's own perk...

Pickpocketing can also break quest, I learned this lesson the hard way. I stole a purple gem in riften and the horn from the jarl of solitude and both items are quest items, unfortunately they broke both quest and lost about 2 hours of gameplay before I figured it out. Don't steal the hip bone from the bum in solitude either!

i know right? that's for the wabbajack mission and i didnt do that, i already completed that mission
and like some of you say pickcpoketing is a good skill in terms of the carry weight one but u all seem to agree with me in one thing, this skill shouldnt be a skill all alone to begin with!
maybe an extra perk to lockpicking or so..because seriously let's say u want extra pockets! u need to climb several other meaningless perks in order to reach it
in the end is that really worth it? NO
u can have the carry weight stone activated, with also enchanted gear that allows u to carry more and your basically a tank without the need to level up any unnessecary pickpocketing perk

So Bethesda must remove a skill because you hate it? Don't use the skill. No one nor anything is forcing you to.

If you don't like the skill then don't use it. I like it. It needs to be improved instead of taken away.

You could always go into dungeons and try to pickpocket the bandits. That way it does not matter if you are caught or not

Can't you just save right before you pickpocket?

It either has to be a skill or removed entirely from the game. Putting it in another tree makes no sense because being a good pickpocket doesn't make you good at picking locks or sneaking around.

Yes, and you can go from 15 to 100 in less than an hr.

Being good at using maces doesn't mean you are good at using daggers, but they are both in the same skill tree. Sometimes these discrepances are made just to simplify the game

True, although it does make slightly more sense then picking pockets relating to picking locks.

Fortify Pickpocket items do not always increase your Pickpocket Skills.

You might try taking off and putting back on the Pickpocket items to see if they actually increase your skill. Or, you can just get better at it.

Yup! Totally agree! In fact we should just take out all the perk trees while we're at it. Yeah! Replace them all with one big tree that has everything! Cause simpler is always better! right? Ya know what? Bethesda should put this in their next game and call it the Elderscrolls VI: Flintstones.... Yeah? Yeah? No.

Improve not remove

Hello, Jumpi94, how are you?

You see, we like to talk about things that we don't like about the game, for the express reason of pointing out their flaws to Bethesda. "Why do we do this?" You may ask, the answer is quite simple really.

Because we want TES VI to be a better game than TES V. :)

I like the pickpocket tree because as a thief I decided not to level up 1-H because pickpocket is so easy to get to 100 and I could steal weapons and armor so that my dagger can instant kill and if it doesn't I'll still have an easy time cause they have no weapons. Another way pickpocket can be cool is the poisoned perk, it give you a way if you know you can't instant kill them so poison then until they are or you could use a frenzy potion to get them to attack you or others. Now are real useless perk in my opinion is lockpick. I was able to unlock every chest and door without a single point in lockpick. If anything lockpick should be removed because it doesn't do anything in my opinion unlike pickpocket which gives you some cool abilities. The only abilities I find cool are the more gold in chests and the 50% more chance of finding better treasure but money was never an issue and the treasure thing only gives you a chance of getting something that you need to be higher level for so after you get to the level where deadric starts to become loot it useless in my opinion.
