Poor sound quality on the PS3

Exactly. Why would a BRD have reduced audio bitrates? Makes no sense. Some random youtube video?
720p Skyrim gameplay videoson the PS3, to be precise.

my sound quality is fine its when the sound & songs play... like discovering a new place, the words come up but no sound effect... its usually delayed.... but this coincides with lag... when it runs smooth the sounds & songs r right on time...

Guys, i was talking about the audio bitrate. An example of this is when you watch music videos on Youtube. You switch from 360p to 720p and the audio is so much crisper and clearer, right. So from the footage i saw online, the PS3 version has that 360p audio quality. I just wanted to know if that's true.
Thanks for the help of everyone, though.

Skyrim audio seems low bitrate, possibly something like 96kps mp3, Sounds a bit grainy , no top end detail or anything.
(My ps3 is routed to a top banana audio system)

It probably isn't down to the BRD. It's probably the available system memory that they could spare for audio. In a game like skyrim , you don't just need to load the graphics of the section you're walking towards but you also have to load (or get ready to load) every sound which could possibly occur too.
100x clang noises, 20x voices, footsteps, magic effects and then the dynamic sound track would probably take up a large chunk of the 256MB if it were .wav files.

I stopped playing over a month ago because of the issue with battle music going bye-bye. No one seems to know why it happens, and it hasn't been addressed thus far. I'm probably going to have to start a new character just to get my battle music back, and there's no way I'm doing that until some of the more serious in-game issues are sorted out.

you guys don't understand at all about what he's trying to explai. this is not about crackle or the lag sound issue, this is about quality. skyrim sounds dark, low quality and low end, swords sound are like they are encoded in 32kbps, and this is not the game itself, it's an issue (well, it seems . I know this issue very well, i spoke with bethesda tech support about it, they are perfectly aware of the problem but they couldn't give me any information about wether it'll be fixed or not (they don't seem to care at all).this issue seems to happen mostly with european non uk version of the game. which version do you have? I'm kinda hoping it'll be fixed with the 1.4 patch, but i say this to myself since patch 1.1...kinda lame because they are aware of that almost since the beginning

Well i borrowed the PC version and watched some PS3 walkthroughs. The PC version sound quality is fine, could have been better though. Now when you flick attack with a sword or an axe, the audio bitrate lowers so much on the PS3 that it's hard not to notice. The 360 version sounds fine, even better than the PC version i think.

It was in English and it was the US version.

i dont know about you guys but the quality of the sound in my setup playing skyrim or any game at that sound amazing everything sounds as it should i've not experienced one glitch with the audio, actually when i was playing skyrim i played for like 200+ hrs and when it froze the audio kept going, however my game is flawed which is why i stopped playing.

Hi guys! So I've watched a few PS3 Skyrim walkthroughs and after that I borrowed Skyrim for the PC (laggy as heck! on my PC at least) from one of my friends and one thing I've noticed was that the audio quality (bitrate) was so much lower on the PS3 version. I don't know why but some sound effects like when you swordfight or attack somebody with whatever weapon, they just sound very bad in comparison to the PC version.
Now, this might be a video quality issue and not the game's problem so I'd like some people who actually own the PS3 version of Skyrim to share their opinions about this.
There is probably little to no difference. The reason audio sounds worse is because the audio is heavily compressed with those streams.Just try to listen to music on for example youtube and you will see what i mean unless you use poor quality pc speakers. There is also this issue with these people making walkthroughs not even knowing how to record/edit a video properly which can also lead to such quality issues.
