A Possible idea for something like the Anchorage DLC?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:47 pm

I'll agree that story and game play wise, Operation: Anchorage was lacking. However, it's way more enjoyable than the heaping piece of crap that Dead Money is. If it wasn't for the five extra levels it gives you, I'd just delete it. It's worse than Mothership Zeta.

Back to my original point: Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it needs to be removed. If you think something makes the game too easy and don't have the willpower not to use it, then that's not the game's fault. You chose to use it every single time. Nobody forced you. Then you complain that it makes things too easy. That's like touching a red hot stove multiple times and complaining about how it keeps burning you.

This is true, notice how it happens to be the same few people on this forum that complain and arnt happy with other peoples ideas and sugggestions. For some reason they think they have the solid truth about what can and cant be in the Fallout series.

It is a big problem. When you have a community that attacks other people's ideas, you end up with with a community where people are essentially afraid to talk about their ideas. One of the best things about Fallout is just how many ways you can play it. You're presented with so many options to choose from. If people keep complaining, asking for weapon nerfs, companion nerfs, etc, it'll end up being a cold, static game that caters to a very small group. The more options the better. As I said above, if you don't like a particular weapon, armor, or companion then simply don't use them. It's as simple as that. I never felt I was "gimped" for choosing to not use the Stealth Suit in Fallout 3. It just wasn't my play style. Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean that they're aren't a lot of people who do enjoy it. Look at the Sniper Rifle nerf for instance. People acted like once they got their hands on one they instantly won the game. Yet anyone with common sense knows that's simply not the case. Not to mention that they had plenty of other weapons to choose from. I wish we had even more weapons, armors, companions, and housing to choose from. Would I like all of the stuff that they'd put in? Of course not. I don't like everything in Fallout 3 or New Vegas. I do like how many options I have to choose from though.

*sigh* The problem wasn't choices, you could have plenty of choices with hurting or breaking the game balance. Dead Money does this well by not adding anything earth shattering, yet offering plenty of choices. The purpose of game balance is to give players the incentive to build better and have a perfectly good reason to. It keeps the game challenging and interesting. Like in Fallout 2, the Enclave Patrols would batter players wearing anything less than Power Armor. The problem with Fallout 3 is it just didn't provide enough challenge to build better and hence keep playing. It relied solely on the shininess of a new toy to keep interest, which only works for oh so many players.

New Gauss Rifle in FO3 and New Vegas svcks. M72 Gauss Rifle is alot better. Wish we could have both. I agree The Pitt was one of the better DLCs

Along with point lookout. Oh and a VR pod is just stupid, I could not give a damn if it lets me into a war simulation or gives me ultimate treasure at the end, I could only care about what is happening in the game, not something that had already finished and would hate it to subtract from the DLC storyline (notice the "DLC Volume one" next to dead money and hearing about the Divide, big empty and the courier who canceled?)

They could bring back the VR pods and have a different small-scale simulation for each pod.

Each could be a training simulation. Kind of like the VR missions in the Metal Gear games.

If you get it, you become an unkillable force.

Then run around in your underwear. Who said you have to wear it?

Nope, sorry. Operation Anchorage broke Fallout 3s *delicate* gambe balance and smashed it to bits. The Chinese Stealth Suit broke the game *horribly*.

why do you care if someone else uses the chinese stealth suit, i never used it hardly at all, so it seems you don't want anyone else to use it, if it "broke" the game for you why did you use it? and if you didn't use it, then it didn't "break" the game for you.

yah hes just trying to make so everyone else doesnt use it. People all play the game differently. If we all played it the same well it would be boring.

This ones to:

Epicness1

Iq Professor pl

Vault Boy 101

and a few others on here;
You have restored my faith in this forum. Not just because you's think the same things as me but, because even if you didn't you's would atleast understand and respect our differences instead of going on like some other people on here with the 'I own the Fallout canon 'cos I played Fallout 1 back when no-one heard of it' malarky.

I'll admit I used to come on here far more than I do now, when I first came on it was fter spending time on Gears of War forums where we'd talk about online strategies or what need toning down etc and it if anyone has ever been on there then you'll know it's a pretty hostile forum.
The people are not nice, they slag you off in every post, don't listen to your ideas and just basically want to start a fight for no reason.
When I first came on here I was blown away with how nice everyone was, people would reply to my posts and agree or, even if they disagree'd they did so in a nice way and still had a good chat etc but lately' (well for quite some time now actually) these forums are getting more hostile, people are not just disagreeing with each other it's almost like a fight or a competition to prove who knows the most or owns the franchise more than anyoen else because they are so hardcoe they know more than anyone and what they say goes.
It's rare to see anyone agree with anyones posts these days and the fact I had people agreeing with me on this topic shocked me. It's been that long since I feel like I'm talking to people and enjoying the forum rather than 'fighting my corner' so that the parts of the game I love don't get taken out in a patch or the next installment.
I'm not trying to take anything away from other players on here who like different things to me I just think the more choices we have the better as more people can get what they want out of it.
If you don't like something, don't use it, if you think a weapons or apparel breaks the game, don't equipt it, if you don't like the DLC's, don't buy them.

Personally I've got alot out of both Fallout 3 and Vegas and all of the DLC's. Really enjoyed them whether they were what I expected or not. We hace to remember this is not OUR franchise, this is not OUR story. We're just lucky enough to play a part in a story and world that suits our tastes and to all of the people on here who do nothing but slag off the game, the new ones, the weapons, armour, story or DLC's, just stop playing them!

It seem like the majority of the people on here hate the game by the way they talk on here but, I find it hard to believe anyone would spend so much time on a forum for a game they dislike so much so I can only assume they just like arguing with people on forums?
I don't get it.
I love the game and I think people should stop trying to strip it down and take away it's identity because if they took notice of these forums that's what would happen.

I'd happily visit Anchorage again or anyone past event, I want more DLC that really lets me see more of the world I love and know more of the story of it. Just don't strip the game down please! Bring back the real Chinese Stealth Armour too!

Sorry this post is kind of long but, my faith in these forums has been restored by some good members on here, lets hope the forum gets back to how it used to be when I first joined.

so yeah. I wouldn't mind the old weapons from fallout 3, i had kinda become attacted to the assault rifles you could get, and maybe if brought back, make a few new ones which had feel of fallout 3 on top of that. Cause i really wanted to use a plugner as a wepon so many times in both fallout 3 and new vegas. Personally i could totally see something like the followers finding the pods in order to locate a lost technololgy to help mankind, with a few stuck in other pods and you go in there and you could decide there fate and find the lost tech *rambles for the next hour about storylines*
