The only bad thing about ''Dead Money'' ...*SPOILERS*... Whe

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:45 pm

I think the "real" reward here guys is not about all the items you can collect but the story itself. There are random hints throughout the DLC that suggest another DLC will be coming out. Courier vs Courier in the "Divide" wherever that may be, sounds awsomely epic to me. Imagine fighting against another well equipt oppenent such as yourself. For me thats the real reward.

I do agree most of the new items are garbage, but the story made up for it!

Maybe yes but paying money for the knowledge that there will be another DLC... But yes the experience was great and the Elijah part was hillarious... I hope there is a burned man DLC..

Im just glad they gave me a nice home in the end(abandond bos bunker).I hope they give me more housing options in the rest of the dlcs.I got all the gold out,but Im probly not guna sell it cause its rare and I dont need caps. The game play was frustrating at times, but once I got used to it,it wasnt that bad.Prity much my reward was a house and decent game play.

Yes maybe the experience is the reward but I like to take parts of that experience with me and well... you have like 4 bunker houses in the game so a new bunker isn't a big deal but if you like it it's great!

I agree, the add ons in fallout 3 gave me lots of toys to play with in the rest of the game, that made it a lot more worth it, this one didnt. But hey I got gold right? And the more housing options the better for me,it helps RPing if I hve more options for diff playthroughs.I would like it if they would add a player housing thats not a bunker, but intill then, Ill make do with lucky 38, this new bunker, the crapy safehouses/ motel rooms, or some of the other places that arnt mine.

The BAR is the terror of the mojave though, so that was pretty nearly worth it. Seriously, that thing blows limbs off left and right. Hilarious!

This. Seriously this gun with the handcrafted rounds and a guns of 100 was absolutly devastating! I killed 3 deathclaws in about 2 seconds outside of vats with it (they were pretty convienently close together).

This was an awsome DLC with dificult choices and pretty big concequences for your greed.

Also, the Abandoned BOS bunker makes a great home with a bed, crafting benches, a Seirra Madre vending machine, and that cloud residue experiment. I'd say that it's a pretty good reward on its own.

I for one am glad the devs saw fit not to include some absurdly powerful, game-breaking item. You got some items that while useful, don't throw entirely throw off game balance.

Why? Is it because you lack the self-control to not use something that in your view takes all challenge out of the game, or because you cannot abide someone else out there having fun with the NV equivalent of the CSS and Jingwei's sword taking out Tangoes like they were a super ninja? I like having uber weapons around like the MIRV or the CSS/Jingwei's sword as long as they are cool or funny. I just don't use them all the time so they get old, I use them to amuse myself or to avoid things I've beaten in previous playthroughs I don't want to bother with this time.

Rewards? How about The BAR? The bear trap fist (only Unarmed weapon that can be modded)?

Cosmic knives that you can clean up or heat up and put on your table settings? (Does anyone other than me set out meals in their houses? Anyone?)
PRE WAR STEAKS? Yes, you can get 200 year old steaks, preserved mostly by the radiation, from the meat lockers in the Casino's kitchen.

A vending machine which provides an infinite supply of food and aid items, not to mention two kinds of ammo, weapon repair kits, and super stimpaks?

The Holorifle, which when fully modded rivals the Gauss rifle as an energy sniper?

Delicious Bars of Gold to decorate or sell?

Police pistols for your "private investigator" character? Construction hats? Sierra Madre Martinis? A Cateye alternative?

A bunker with multiple beds, containers (not all of them reset, guys. The boxes and BOS footlocker definitely don't.), a workbench, a reloading bench, a vending machine, a drop box that gives you chips, and plenty of shelf space?

An awesome story with well written and well voiced dialogue? Dean's Tuxedo/Vera's outfit for going out on the town? The Jumpsuit? The Assassin armor? Two kinds of Riot Armor, with COBRA COMMANDER HELMETS?

Are all these things not enough for you people?

Yes but none of them was a fallout-style reward like the tesla cannon, the winterized t-51b power armor, and lots of other stuff... if you like that great but it wasn't enough for me and many of us haha

Define "Fallout Style"
Do you mean "super powerful" like the Tesla Cannon and the Never-Degrading T-51b? Or the stealth suit that allows you to sneak through the entire game?
Those are all in the game anyway, although they've been rebalanced to not be so powerful.

But the BAR is pretty powerful- it's the only Full Auto .308 rifle. Feed it Jacketed Soft Points and it will wreck anything that gets within medium range of you. Using it sparingly at long range works too.
It's an all around great weapon but it doesn't break the game by making you unstoppable while wearing it. I was fine with such items in Fallout 3 since I didn't take it very seriously. But Fallout New Vegas definitely aspires to be a more serious "Fallout Game", so I don't think such things are appropriate unless you have Wild Wasteland.
If you're looking for such things just get yourself the Alien Blaster.

Perhaps you mean "high tech"? If so I would disagree that such things are "Fallout Style" on principle, as Fallout has always had a mix of high and low tech.
So the automatic rifle is just as "fallout" as your Tesla Cannon, in my opinion. And Did you forget the Holorifle? With all the mods its damage rivals the Gauss Rifles. And while not as powerful per shot as the Gauss weapons, it has advantages- namely, it uses 1 mf cell per shot, as opposed to the gauss rifle which uses 5, and it also can fire four times before reloading.

Again, it's not overpowered, but it's got its uses! Like I said, what do you people want, a giant power armor that causes you to take zero damage and a shotgun which fires independently guided heat seeking pellets that find your enemies and kill them instantly whether you aimed at them or not?
Seriously, what does it take to please you people?

It's not that I didn't understand the thread, I simply disagree with you. I suppose it's a matter of taste.

Getting ED-E back. :sadvaultboy:

Aww you're one of the guys who lost ED-E?
I feel sorry for you. I made sure he was safe as soon as I got back from the Madre.
There he was, buzzing around. My suggestion?

Keep ED-E in Primm before you go, and make a save before you return from the DLC area.
If ED-E is dead, reload the save. That's my only possible suggestion.

Of course that doesn't help you. :(

Subtle marketing is the "real" reward? :bonk: holorifle would have been nicer without the GL stock. It already has the skeleton for it why the stock???!!? mmm Greed Gold.

A super-difficult really easy game with True Reality hardcoe that dumps all dialogs so you can charge through the game without much thought. And you have to get wicked powerful weapons that AREN'T game-breakers but still pwn. The game needs to let us cheat without actually cheating. The game can't end after it ends. All DLC needs to be exclusive for every platform (are you starting to see the theme here?). There needs to be a level cap that isn't enforced. And it needs to hold your hand through everything while letting you think you're the one making the choices. Rewards for everything you do can't be less than a game-breaking weapon and non-skill-specific weapon that doesn't break the game. Something like a... railgun that shoots armor-piercing hollow points that explode in lightning and shrapnel. You know, something COOL.

True Reality hardcoe Fallout comes with your own Real Life Killer -- a guy bigger, stronger, and meaner than you. When your character gets injured, RLK injures YOU. He hides all your food and water so that you have to find it in real life as well as in the game. And he hovers over you watching for you to try exploits or mods or Chinese Stealth Armor (in FO3 anyway) and he beats your ass down if you do it because everybody knows: YOU ARE CHEATING. He's got a little switch in the back of his head you can use to switch him to Easy Mode, or Extreme Death mode (at which point, you are drawn and quartered on the spot).

Or the short answer: none of these people who complain can be satisfied.

Dude it's a game and I'm not saying the DLC was bad... it was great but if you really like a game you have to give your'e opinion even when it's bad... that's my opinion and if you guys are like the ones that always say that everything is good just because you love the game thats your opinion, and my opinion is different than yours...

Actually, I'm at peace with it. I was pretty annoyed at first, but now it's sort of cracking me up to be so sad online about it, you know?
ED-E's my favorite companion, but I've had him with me in a couple previous playthroughs, so missing out this time isn't too big a deal. Viva variety, you know?
Having said that, if someone comes up with a fix or a patch I'm on it.

You don't get it, do you? He's saying that the devs are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

If they put in the cool, super powerful items you seem to want, people would complain the items were too powerful and game breaking.
If they balance the items and make them good and with niche roles compared to vanilla weapons, they get people like you complaining that the gear wasn't good enough.

So essentially, your opinion and the opposite extreme are mutually exclusive- the devs must cater to one or the other. So you see, despite all your complaining, your opinion is outweighed by the dominant one.

He was merely pointing out that the devs are always going to piss off SOMEONE with their design choices, so the complainers can never be pleased.
