a wife and kids

Yeah it just doesn't fit the game in any way. Thankfully I have never seen a mod created like this!

I have. And it's not, by far, the weirdest mod i've seen..

Marriage? à la Fable? So we get to fart and dance to seduce and propose? ;)

Or we could try the Bethesda approach.

1. Start out with a joke, that always grabs their attention.
2. Boast about yourself. The whole game world revolves around you, so she'd better know it!
3. Admire her, girls like that.
4. Coerce her into marrying you.

I'm not really liking this idea to be honest, and if it was put in then i probably wouldn't use it (maybe once just to see what it was like, but i can't see myself liking it), However that's just my opinion...

Let me put some letteuce on that Spamwich

Yeah, It might could maybe sorta be cool... if it was done right. I wouldn't want a wife an kid to just "be there" like in fable (don't get me wrong, I loved Fable, but I only ever married to get in that one demon door: you know had to marry lady gray). Getting married in that game was really just a minigame if you think about it.

If there was some legitimate benefit to having a family (I dont know maybe some perk or something) but you had to make sure they had food / water / sleep (if hardcoe mode is active) it could be interesting.
Then again we really don't need more children like in FO3 (Annoying, invincible, and annoying).

Actually marriage would be okay if the there story that evolves from this event. Such as PC male or female marries companions, what happens when your spouse/partner is kidnapped by Caesar's Legion because of meddling by PC and wants revenge or the ganster's that took your package from you at the beginning of the game trying to stop you from looking further by threatening you through your spouse/partner. Something along that line. :goodjob:

Of course this have to be done well to make it work.

Anyways.....Obsidian would never miss an opportunity to expand on the plotline would they? Hope Obsidian does something along this line or similar. Welll who knows until we go running to get the game when it comes out...... :bolt:

I can live with the developers adding in fleshed out romances as long as I don't have to play them out; in my experience cRPG romances are very awkward with the only exceptions being the ones present in Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate II and Mask of the Betrayer. However including marriages and kids just for the sake of having them in the game ALA Fable I think would be very unwelcome. What would be the point, really? If you want that kind of stuff go play the Sims, or Fable for that matter. Fallout is more about the lone hero wandering the wasteland, perhaps with a companion or two, and not about raising kids and getting yelled at for cleaning the dishes on the table but not the ones on the counter.

A romantic option with a few companions sounds like a good idea, so long as it's kept strictly optional.

Marriage sounds like a bad idea for a wasteland wanderer - wouldn't be too realistic, unless your whole family followed you around.

Why would anyone want to bring a kid into a post apocolyptic world?

People would still screw around even after the bombs fell. I don't think there would be an abundance of condems nor a great understanding of six given the state of the world.

I also imagine that there would be people who would legitimately want a child even in the wasteland. Hell look at the Lone Wanderer in Fallout 3.

wouldnt that be cool if u can get married and have kids sorta like the fable series? just picture your wife (as a companion) in a betty crocker get up strapped with a fatboy mercing down super mutants.

I always enjoy romances in games if done right. However kids and pregnancy don't really work in action/shooters even RPG because it overcomplicates things. Building up romances is more simple since its done through dialogue and the right actions during the game while rising kids might require a whole new mechanic.

As a story concept it's interesting, but to add that kind of responsibility, with the type of static AIs in Fallout, it would kinda svck.

I've seen it done in Mods in Morrowind, which had far more static AI than Fallout, and it was fun. The means are there, even if the will isn't.
