No, I don't think it would be cool. Shotgun weddings have been done, and I'd prefer that romance were kept out (though if it is, I just won't use it). The kid part would be much, much worse if it were in. I'm pretty sure you would only be able to reach 9 months in the game if you played a lot and for a long time anyway.

Why would anyone want to bring a kid into a post apocolyptic world?

Anyway, I wouldn't mind it as long as it was done alright.

No. Because in the Fable series, relationships and marriages are pointless and executed extremely poorly.

The only sort of marriage I'd accept for NV is a long and involved romance questline ala BG2. Or possibly a shotgun wedding ala FO2.

Because what you do to make that kid is rather fun. :P

Letting the PC have kids is probably not a good idea, because in general, we want to adventure, not babysit kids :P .

As for a wfie - well, probably not a good idea either. While I'd welcome the possibility of a romance, chances seem low. Maybe you could become engaged to certain people, but the only effects of this would show up in the ending.

I still think that the best we can hope for in this regard will be something along the line of the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Bishop_Child (which would be cool IMO :D ) .

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

I expect this thread to become a spam sandwich but I'll watch it a while and see what happens. ;)

Let me put some letteuce on that Spamwich

Yeah, It might could maybe sorta be cool... if it was done right. I wouldn't want a wife an kid to just "be there" like in fable (don't get me wrong, I loved Fable, but I only ever married to get in that one demon door: you know had to marry lady gray). Getting married in that game was really just a minigame if you think about it.

If there was some legitimate benefit to having a family (I dont know maybe some perk or something) but you had to make sure they had food / water / sleep (if hardcoe mode is active) it could be interesting.
Then again we really don't need more children like in FO3 (Annoying, invincible, and annoying).

I'm not a fan of this thought, nor have I ever been. I simply believe its not for Fallout.

I wouldn't mind if they gave the option to get married in the game, but I ain't gonna take her with me on my travels.
Why would I, don't want anything bad to happen to her

Of course in case you pick the option to get married, there could always be a mission at an appropriate time in the story where you have to save your wife in some way to give it a more melodramatic touch

Getting married in that game was really just a minigame if you think about it.

Well, it was a very tough minigame. At one point I had married nearly every female in Bowerstone (or whatever the town was called) and had to keep all of them oblivious to each other. Now that's a challenge!

If there was some legitimate benefit to having a family (I dont know maybe some perk or something) but you had to make sure they had food / water / sleep (if hardcoe mode is active) it could be interesting.

Exactly my thoughts.

Then again we really don't need more children like in FO3 (Annoying, invincible, and annoying).
Real kids can be annoying a great deal of the day. My front door is 15 feet away from a kindergarten, trust me, real kids can be annoying too. Invinciblility is just a minor setback that can be solved. In Fo3 Dad is invincible as well by the way.

And besides, it's not that you actually have to look after your kid if it would be implemented. To put it blunt: You knock up your spouse, give birth to your little wasteland anti-christ, and sodd of to the wasteland a couple of weeks to "get supplies to sustain them". Spend one day a week pretending you actually care and than bugger off again for the next week to do your raider killing, slave capturing, gun shooting line of work again. So basically for the people that don't want it implemented but actually get it, the only thing that happens is that you now have a house in wich you have to store some food (as you most likely already did) and have someone running around the house that is in your way all the time, never shuts up, and has a lame sense of humor. So you'll have a human Warthsworth.

Nothing changes much the way I see it ;)

I would not mind being able to get married if there was at least a small story involved. Fable 2's marriage system was crap because all it was was choose the best looking person and woo them then propose. It had no depth to it at all.

Now if you are a male character and you can become romantically linked to Veronica or Cassidy because of your involvement with them (through their companion quest); that is something i would encourage. The same would apply to female character and male companions of course.

The main factor is a story. why would i want to marry or become romantically involved with this person. If you can just marry any random person i feel that detracts from the game, but if it is linked to some kind of story (like the companions falling for you like example i gave above) it would be perfectly fine to me.

I would much rather have any romance be involved through a lot of choosing the right dialogue and maybe some questing. Rather than just picking what you want because you can.

I'd nerdgasm if we could romance veronica.

No kids though, having kids is dumb and would just add some insanely tedious home management system to the game.

Well, there were romance options of Knight of the Old Republic 2, so Obsidian at least knows how to write romance subplots. I don't remember how well done they were though, haven't played the game in ages.

But as for romance in a Fallout game? I think it's one of those things that wouldn't be terrible to have in the game, or not. Take it or leave it, I guess. (I think that idiom works here?)

Raising a kid in a Fallout game though? Eh, that just sounds unnecessary to me, and I can imagine someone would want it, but I don't think I would enjoy it.

It would add a whole new meaning to the Survival Mode.. "your baby is hungry.".. "your baby needs changed." Imagine your character running around with one of those baby carrier back packs on.... "oh no.. your baby got shot.... game over."
