The Strongest Military Power of New Vegas

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:45 pm

The only situation so far where I've had a difficult time with combat against human opponents has been the white gloves society in the ultra luxe. 20 or 30 society members ganged up on me with their dress canes and it was much more difficult than taking on the entire army at camp mcarran.

Not to derail this thread, but the dress cane is a surprisingly good weapon.

Anyone w/ Boomers > Securitons Mk.II > NCR w/ BOS(or remnants) > CL w/ Khans(or remnants) > CL > NCR

Put NCR after CL because they wouldn't support the war with many losses, but likely CL would.

LOL yes they are a great army, except for that they take their marching orders from an inanimate Brahmin skull.

I think it's obvious that NCR have the military supremacy.

Caesar's Legion is an issue but they are still struggling against the NCR and that's with the NCR still having it's troops widely spread out across California and Nevada

The Securitrons are tough with their second upgrade but it is not enough to take down the NCR though they would suffer so many losses it would be foolish of them to try and fight House

Just a couple of thoughts. The NCR is committed but not "all in" like CL. Even though they should beat them statistically, it would probably come down to commitment to a cause, total disregard to losses to achieve objectives and better generalship. To that regard, I think CL would win. They have already crossed the Colorado and are using spies to create havoc.

If there were no courier, CL wins. Better trained , more committed troops against better equipted, poorly trained (for the most part), larger force with poor morale. The current NCR general is a total toad. Any guy who will not take the fight to the enemy will find his defenses negated. Just ask the French Army during WW2. At the start of the war, they had the best tanks in the world, plus the Maginot Line. Better tactical use of their equiptment allowed the Germans to beat two armies with more troops in the field than they had (English and French).

Fear in an army is a terrible foe. Break unit morale and a man will run for his life. Due to morale problems and lack of standardized training, NCR is at a terrrible disadvantage. The Mongols used this as an advantage. By the example made in Nipton, certain towns might want to sue for peace with the Legion. This is how the Mongols rolled up so much land in so short a period of time. Join them, they tax you and you get to live. Resist and when they took over a town, they razed the entire town, salted the fields and even killed the livestock.

If Caeser had studied the original Caeser's commetary on Gaul, and I am sure he did; he would have no problem with the NCR. The Romans were outnumbered but better disciplined. They made short work of a larger Gaullic army.

The only thing I thought might work to CL disadvantage was torturing and killing POWs, especially in front of their comrades. While at its face, it may inspire fear ; it may also inspire a man to fight to the death...not because he wants to but because he has to.
