If they are the kids, why are you pettily insulting them? Please, refrain from such things.

Ya nice bait there Bro, the only person being petty is yourself, we deserve to have a date, could careless as I already said about who get its first.

We get the privilege of being those who kept Bethesda going long enough to decide to cash in on the consoles by tailoring their games for them, and sticking us with console-design interfaces made for viewing from across the room.

The privilege of being those who garnered Bethesda a repuation for highly customizable games...which can't be customized on the consoles they now pander to.

And the privilege of being able to fix (on our own, 'cause Bethesda damn sure isn't wasting any time on'em) all the bugs they choose to never do anything about, while leaving the console players they now pander to out in the cold stuck with said glitches and bugs.

"Fisto reporting for duty! Please assume the position!"

Heh Bethesda and Obsidian are catering to people like me who play on the 360!

Of course us "privileged" folks with Xbox 360's don't get the console commands or GECK.

If you were Bethesda / Obsidian and Microsoft wanted to throw money at you and you didn't have to do any extra work....WHY would you not take it? There's nothing criminal in it, nothing shady, at the end of the day people who make video games do it to make money. The more money you make the more money you have to spend on content and future games. So tell me how that's a bad thing?

And once again DLC is not a right. In fact they don't even have to publish Fallout on all three systems. What if Microsoft had paid even more money and snagged exclusive rights to New Vegas? There would be no PS3 or PC release. So just consider yourself lucky and let Bethesda do their job. If you think they shouldn't then you might as well wish them out of business, and then guess what? No more Fallout, no more TES. Ever.

Oh they'd have to throw a lot of money...If they didn't, then BGS would lose a lot of profit.

And if they didn't on all the systems...I'll pop in 1/2/Tactics and just wait until they come to their senses.

Simple my dear friend. Microsoft gets what ever they want. They have endless pockets full of cash, you think Bethesda cares about it's players or it's loyal community? They care about the money, just like every other company. Now don't get me wrong, I own an Xbox 360, so I'm quite pleased.

I still don't think anyone can say Bethesda doesn't care about it's players. The fact is they are quite involved with their player base, and they listen to their fans. You can't say that about every company. I mean just look at Oblivion and look at what they implemented that were player requests and look at the easter eggs in the game making fun of player requests (mostly from Maiq). They obviously care a lot about their players.

I mean they don't have to do DLC, they could just be like 'you get New Vegas and that's it until the next game' but we're lucky enough to get little bonuses to add to the life to the game. Do you have to pay for them? Yeah, but before DLC existed you'd just be stuck with the game with nothing to do after you finish it.

Before DLC's became the main staple we had nice expansions like Tribunal and Bloodmoon for Morrowind, and even Shivering Isles for Oblivion albeit they were offering dlc such as the wonderful horse armor at the time. A sign of things to come...

DLC's are nothing more than a small investment with a big promise of profit. More people are likely to shell out 5$ for content fluff vs 30$ for a full expansion with solid content.

But the fact of the matter is there was something before the fabled DLC. You are more than welcome to feel lucky about it though.

Me, ill stay away from the koolaid tyvm.

there is no point? absolutely no point in making the dlc exclusive.. your going to release it for ps3 anyway? your going to make the same amount of money wether you release it now or in a couple months? well actually probably less because people will be so pissed off they will dump the game. its just so stupid?! what does it prove?! it wont make you more money and it will make more people hate microsoft? honestly what is the point!?

This is a fairly common practice. the UFC games had exclusive fighters to each platform, Microsoft bought the rights to Shenmue 2 so that it wouldn't get released in North America on the Dreamcast (only on the original Xbox), Sony used to always get the GTA games first (before GTA 4), exclusive content on cross platform games is not rare in any way. Whoever's got the fattest wallet gets the cooler things first. It's actually a good life lesson. It's the same thing as asking "why does my neighbour get a nicer car than me?". The answer: because they paid extra for it.

That said, PS3 and PC owners can be happy that, as one poster mentioned, the 360 owners will beta test the DLC first. When the others get it (and you will, don't worry, there's money to be made). Microsoft wanted the exclusive deal so that people would say "oh, I'll get the Xbox version (if they have a choice), it will have the first DLC available!". This means more people buying Microsoft points, which means more of a cut for Microsoft in the end (no doubt they get a percentage of every DLC or XBLA game sold).

So, in short... yes, there is a point. It's called capitalism. And it won't hurt PS3 or PC sales of the DLC one bit for Bethesda, because those who don't have a 360 who normally buy DLC will still buy it.

Also I don't think Microsoft is worried about anyone hating them any more. It's so trendy to hate Microsoft, you might as well put on thick rimmed glasses and a flannel shirt while you do it.

I totally agree its tupid but youre at the profit theyll make as if it wont be much. Microsoft will pay them ALOT of money just so it can be released a couple of months earlier.

I just hope people remember to post the spoilers in the right section when it's released - I bet there's going to be some annoyed PC/PS3 users who end up reading things they didn't want to know. Does anyone know when it will be released on the other platforms? With any luck it won't be a massive wait for them.

Bethesda has repeatedly demonstrated, since Morrowind, that they care more about money than about making the best games possible, or their fans.

I used to be a huge Bethesda fan, but am no longer a customer due to their business practices.

That is entirely untrue and you know it. So if you want to avoid playing some of the best games out there because a company is trying to do what a company does, especially in bad financial times, so be it. You're going to be very disappointed in life with that attitude. You should probably just stop buying everything then.

Limiting DLC content to a fraction of the fanbase/customers isn't exactly good business sense on Bethesda/Obsidian's part unless you factor in what Microsoft paid for the exclusive. :whistling:

I dont know if you realize this but microsoft doesnt care if people hate them, especially over as stupid of reason as a marketing scheme. i dont care if anyone hates them, it doesnt bother me one bit, and as a matter of fact i hold stock in their company and it is their formost concern to make their stockholders happy.... im happy.
