a question for any elder scrolls player who isn't going to p

That doesn't make sense at all. If a friend buys skyrim and lends it to you for a while for $5, how is that supporting bethesda? The friend did, but nothing you did gave any money to them.

You are still supporting it because your friend bought the copy and you are still playing on a copy that was paid for. Remember you said you do not Support the buisness but you are still playing from a copy that was bought that supports the company. So while you did not give Bethesda the money, your friend did and you still playing on it and giving him the money. You are still giving money to play a game from Bethesda. Thing is your $5 is not going to Bethesda, but they still got thier $60. The only true way of not supporting the buisness is not playing the game at all.

You are still giving $5 to still play the right to play Skyrim. So in essence while Bethesda is not recieving Your money, you are still paying to play the game. So since you are paying to play the game, even though it's $5, that copy for $5 still had to pay $60 to be able to be played in the first place. That make any sense?

Thought that was given, since thats what the other guy was talking about.

Well if that was a given since you are talking about a console copy, why are you complaining about PC secureware then? Why complain about Steamworks etc etc if you will be playing on a 360 or PS3 then? Just curious.

I dislike DRM like most of you guys, however, Steam really isn't that much of a big deal. At least it's a really popular platform where you can buy games (sometimes very cheaply), you can chat with your friends, easily join online games together, and everything is assembled in a neat and tidy fashion. Sure - I'd rather no steam than require steam, but steam itself isn't so obtrusive.

No...your friend would have bought it with or without your intervention. That does not make any sense. Bethesda receives no money from the person who borrowed it. In fact, by it being lent, that's a possible $60 that doesn't go to bethesda.

I just thought it was a given if you were commenting on someone else's issue, you'd be commenting on someone else's issue.

I'll probably buy it eventually, but I want to see some reactions after it's released first. I pre-ordered Obliivon, played for about 15-20 hours, and came to the realization that I didn't find it satisfying as an RPG.

You still got the amount of time you would get out of a regular game these days anyway.

Fallout New Vegas was a step in the right direction and Bethesda could learn a thing or two from Obsidian

Ewww... "If" they learned anything from Obsidian its now not to make one of their open world games. Oh, and Steam works fine for me - don't see the angst over it as a DRM setup.

No no, steam is a great service. I just don't like DRM at all. Games are products, not services. Not to mention DRM is completely ineffectual for any pirate and only bothers the consumer.

After reading some posts why not get steam with Skyrim? Steam is the greatest place to get games ever.(online not retail)and steam makes it great.
Also steam isn't 3rd party

Yes it is.

And I'll be getting Skyrim for sure since Steam isn't a huge deal.
