I've defended the game since day 1 (of the European release, because I'm European and that's cool). I've never called it perfect, I've openly recognised it's flaws, I've openly criticised it for it's flaws, and it's there on public record for anyone who cares to go back and find out. But I've defended it because I knew that that the initial technical problems were driver-related rather than game-related, and because I knew that the accusations being made of the game not having been tested were false.

"Fun but flawed" is a phrase I have used on a number of occasions and I stand over it.

Over the time I've been accused of being an id employee, of being an NVIDIA employee, of all manner of things. I'm not. I'm just a regular guy with a 3D graphics background who bought a game and thought it was fun but flawed, and decided to call out some of the bull that people were spreading.

Once again, upthread, we see a personal stab at me over this from someone who fails to accept that you can have this kind of opinion. Who comes across as believing that if you don't think the game svcks you must by definition be a fan-boi. I have attempted to explain that this is not so, that it is possible to praise the elements that you do like but at the same time recognise and make fair criticism of those that you don't. That message isn't only not getting through, it is apparently being openly rejected.

So be it.

If how long you have been on a forum is a measure of your right to give an opnion, if how many Doom WADs you've downloaded is a measure of your right to have an opnion, and if you must either think something svcks or be a fan-boi, then I'm just happy I don't live in the same kind of world as you.

It's a public forum. Only the mods have rights.

The continual attacks on any who disagree with you is what brought me to the point of calling you all on it. The conspiracy theories that 'hammer legion' types were coordinating to diss the game, the uses of the word liar and ridicule to try to put down any who have different opinions. Wuli actually refereed to one poor guy as a dog, as in "Telling this poor guy its just the game is like teasing a dog with food." ... right just like teasing a dog with food.

Anyhoo I am a long time internet monster and sometimes I take exception to this kind of stuff so I wade in. I don't rattle and I keep my own counsel so all the name calling just amuses me and gives me fodder for hopefully inventive responses.

Flame on kiddies ...

On their computer in their cave... like they're Batman or something...
