[REQ] Carriage Drives You Places?

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 6:58 pm

Is there any way to make the "gravity" feel better for the cart? it seems like it moves kind weird like when it goes over a bump or the horse turns can result in the carriage tilting like 45 degrees.

Anyway, aside from the minor nuances, I love the idea of this mod. I honestly thought that horse carts would work this way this time around.

Fast Travel??? What's that? Oh yeah... now I remember, that thing I used in Arena and Daggerfall! How quaint. Useful if you have to cross hundreds of miles of countryside, but riding your horse (or a horse drawn cart) from Whiterun to Riften is just good times. ;)
Also, I thought perhaps the horse was avoiding a giant blocking the road up ahead, so I got out and attacked him. This resulted in the giant attacking the carriage and the horse fleeing, but still attached to the carriage by http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/469736513757506051/49D4F1C8CC8720BBB6E73AE869A3E8BB9AA1B03A/

By the looks of it , feels as if you were riding a towboat. Maybe altering the weight and the collision mesh of the kart could help.

This is great! For me, the biggest missing components are the sounds of the wheels and the creaks and groans of the wagon itself. The opening sequence of the game had those elements just about right.

Thanks for working on this mod!

What if you're attacked?

You've been waylaid by enemies and must defend yourself!

It would be awesome if there was some random bandit ambushes while driving the carriage. Even more awesome if you could attack from the carriage using bow and magic on the ambushers.

Looks like you may have a mod that ups the horse speed? That looks a lot faster than the horse goes in my game...

By the way, the latest update should fix the issues with overlapping carriages.

When I get a chance, I'll take a look at the problem spots posted above. (and yes, Winterhold to anywhere west will be a wild ride - I hadn't really looked at that one because you can only do that if you first ride a carriage to Winterhold and then keep going.)

Looks brilliant, now if only we could get a modification that allows you to buy carriages and attach them to horses. That'd be cool, especially due to the fact that it would only need a few tweaks to make a truly mobile home.

Love it, really wish this had been in the game from the start, but I can see why it isn't :)

I've tried 3 different times now to take the ride from Whiterun to Markarth and each time the carriage reaches a point about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through the trip and just stops. No indication that it thinks we've arrived at the destination, and it doesn't matter where it starts from either. The whole ride just stops.

Also, when starting in Markarth, the driver took a detour off the main road, up some trail in the mountains, and right past a hostile Forsworn camp that opened fire on us. Fortunately those guys can't aim for squat and we drove right by, but I can't fathom why the game would have sent the horse along that path unless the navmesh is erroneously set to preferred pathing along that route. We ended up rejoining the main road just south of Rorikstead... and then just stopped.

When going from Riften to Whiterun, Fort Greymoor is a bit iffy because of the blockades, but the carriage got past quite well. However, in shor's stone, the horse kept bumping into a porch, stopping, walking back a little, and bumping into the porch again.

Also, Whiterun to Winterhold is FUBAR. The driver should've taken me in the direction of Windhelm, but we went to Dawnstar instead, and there we squeezed in between two houses and got ourselves hopelessly stuck in the wilderness.

I wouldn't have noticed cicero without this mod, though.

I really like that idea, you could roleplay a gypsy! I'm betting it doesn't work because the bedrolls don't have physics like normal objects (they're never meant to be moved), so if you created a new physic-ed object that uses the mesh, texture, and scripts for the original bedroll, maybe you could put it in the cart. Then of course, it'd probably just bounce around in the cart, mabye even fly out!

Using it on an existing game basically made the Havok engine explode, carriage parts everywhere. We ended up in an http://i.imgur.com/11CEN.jpg

I'm sorry... I know this mod isn't supposed to be "funny", but seriously, the stories of getting stuck and the Havok engine problems... It's HILARIOUS!! :lmao: Perhaps, once the mod "matures" so to speak (no bugs, or very few), then all the stories posted here and elsewhere about it, should be published in an in-game Skyrim book called "The First Adventures of the Real Carriage" LOL

Yes, the author actually posted it in this thread and it sort of became the discussion topic about it. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=13790 for good measure.

The author of the mod is probably working on the new DLC....
