Has Skyrim got any replayablity?

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 1:30 am

Currently a level 27 Nord warrior. I love the game and the exploration BUT i really wouldn't want to go through the pain of levelling another character. Plus i have 100 smithing so why would i want to do it again??? Once the exploration of a region is over, it just wouldn't be the same going through the same dungeons etc etc. You'd know what to expect and for me the fun would be over. Plus the thought of picking up all that that gold/trash items all over again makes me feel ill lol.
Am just glad i picked my right class. I really wouldn't want to do re-roll and do it all over again. If you do then your a braver person than i. i salute you.

I got about 4 players as strong as your only one, and I play on xbox. If you play on the PC then you should start saying that the thread was just a joke.

When people start making quest etc.. with the use of the creation kit. The replayabilty will Skyrocket.

I just finished the main quest at level 36 or so and not sure if I could play it again. Granted there are some stuff I missed but I've still seen every city and a ton of dungeons. With the main quest done, all the other side quests are just too disconnected. Maybe I just got burned out spending 5 hours doing about 20 companion quests to try to cure being a wherewolf and still couldn't do it. damn glitch

I have four characters none of which past level 15, I'd say that the game's problem is that you don't want to play your current character when you just want to make a new one!

P.S. Mage/Warrior hybrid FTW.

Oh yeah. I'm at level 41 over 100 hours and I know I haven't really dug into all the quests yet by any means. I'm probably going to wrap this character up soon and then start another and I'm thinking it will feel almost as fresh as my first character because I know theres many areas I've barely passed through and many cities I never went into the pubs to pick up quests, etc.

Well, I just finished my vow of silence and felt like posting, I've been lurking for hours. :P

For me, I spend an insane amount of time on each of my playthroughs. On my first character I usually beat the main quest and get a feel for the game and how it plays. When I say a feel for the game, I mean doing half the quests and getting to about level 30-40. Then, I know the game pretty well. Then I make my real 'main' character. I spend the most time on him, maxing out his level and 'finishing' the game (beating every quest). I will then just have fun with him, running around and doing stuff. When I finally get bored, I will make a third character just to test out a pure class type that I have experienced the least, this is often my thief/assassin character. After that I will get into role playing characters and fun characters, where I just screw around in the game and test it's limits as far as playability goes such as... when you massacre an entire city. :D My roleplaying characters usually take up most of my long term time and give me the most replayability, because I love roleplaying characters in all the different types.

Oh, and with my character that I go for 'finishing' the game on, I will usually use the UESP to discover all the things that I may have missed when I think I'm done. It's actually a lot of fun doing that as well, and you learn some really neat stuff, and some cool exploits that sometimes help with roleplaying too.

you think its brave to re-roll a character? i dont think you like RPGs then. back in the day every RPG was "dead is dead" and you re-rolled whether you liked it or not eventually. that "end of character" inevitability made it such a blast because you always had to consider what you would make next, adding a buttload of replayability you would have otherwise ignored because you didnt have to start over.

anyways, it hardly so punishing anymore, but the idea of playing as multiple characters is still key to RPGs. the thought of something new makes you think of what defines your current character from another, and in turn ups the role-playability AND replayability as you work to define your characters.

and there is no way you explored everything at lv27. if you did, you still got 300+ hours of content, so you really cant complain that there isnt anymore to do...

in my opinion no, but replayability is only important if the game is short, skyrim is not
even if you were to do everything once it will take you hundreds of hours which means even though replayablity is low its value is phenomenal.

that said, i might make a mage character and dual wield spells, or just train it up on my current guy you don't have to role play to make the game last longer. i feel the same as op, when i stepped out of the first dungeon i was stunned, but no longer do i feel that way.

the only way i will make a new character and completely do the game again is if i get the GOTY edition and decide to do it all again =p

It is... until you get an arrow in the knee.

(In other words, not after you finish most quests, unless you're planning to use and create mods.)

The problem, imo, with the game regarding replayability is that all the content is available for everyone at any time. Aside from few choices (which are fairly minor in their functionality while having the framework of an epic) which do affect nothing in any actually significant way, there is little to see and do after you've seen and done it once.

Don't play the entire game with one character.

That's the big thing for me. I never play any TES game or FO game entirely on one character (i.e., do all the quests and find all locations), which makes for good replay on faction quests and side quests. So I make on character to play the dark brotherhood quests plus choice side quests, another to play the thieves guild quests plus choice side quests, etc.
The main quest, I play it once, then meh... Main quests in TES aren't that compelling.
