Help over dealing with Dragons as a pure melee

I don't understand why you would handicap your warrior by not providing him with a ranged weapon. Even if it's not your primary weapon, a bow serves a purpose.

Looking forward to trying this on Master with my 2H Orc Warrior. I was relying on Shadowmere with my previous char on Expert to take quite a bit of the beating for me, because stealthy Khajiit can't hide from a dragon without it a) finding you and sixually rauaging you, or b) it getting bored and flying off.

Cause i cant be bothered to put any perks into Archery because i want to play as a OH warrior, which renders bows uselessly weak

FYI: I have fought a dragon near the atronach stone who would not land.

It was also glitchy in death and instead of falling and turning to ash he flew off into the sunset with 0 health... it was weird. I loaded, he did it again.

You don't have to put perks into archery. As you continue deeper into the game, you find bows and arrows that do more damage, and you can put some enchants on the bow. I have a very low-level enchant on a bow that does 22 points stamina damage - every little bit helps.

Good luck.

The most important thing is probably terrain. You need somewhere with protection from breath attacks. I run around like a madman trying to find the best spot. It is also helpful to drag him into other enemies, like bandits or necromancers. Then when he lands, I go berserk, buff attack speed, and run out and swing like a baseball player on crack. However, if he has high health, and you go head on, he is likely to chew you up and spit you out. This is where any kind of companion, other enemy, summon, etc. is good as a distraction.

My warrior uses bows with no perks when dragons are around. I consider that acceptable as he's a warrior who has a bit of experience with a bow, but no formal or dedicated training. He can "get by" when his sword is not a solution.

they land if your in an area with enough room for them to...that is unless your experiencing the crap patch glitch where they dont land

i've slayed 25 dragons with a pure 2h melee nord...my battke axe power attacks stun them so once they land they usually dont get off the ground ;)

I'm getting more and more successful at slaying dragons with my two-handed weapon, especially now that its' damage is now rated at 60. Initially, I would use the help of NPC soldiers. I used to let them shoot their arrows and just wait for the dragon to land. Upon landing, I would quickly flank the dragon and strike it in the neck and head area with repeated blows. Remember to move quickly around them, and to refrain from hitting them head-on. This approach has proven pretty efficient.

Or use a staff of some kind that allows you to attack the dragon without resorting to a bow.

Are you using a shield? My current play through is a shield bearing conjurer using the conjured sword and summon for ranged attacks. Of course the summon will not work with your build but shield bash goes a long way when trying to keep a dragon stuck to the ground.

1. Dragon finally lands.
2. Sprint power attack.
3. Normal attack
4. Shield bash interrupt.
5. Normal attack x 2
6. Repeat 4 and 5.

Repeat steps until the dragon is dead, you run out of stamina or it fly’s off again..

If you time it right you can keep a dragon grounded thru most of the fight and take little damage. This still doesn’t solve to problem of getting that svcker on the ground though.
