I want chameleon back.

It may have been "over-powered," but you had to purposefully abuse it to become THAT powerful. I honestly don't understand posts like this, complaining about chameleon. It's like with smithing. To become ultra-powerful, you have to ABUSE smithing. As long as there are equally-powerful tools for the three main playing types (warrior, mage, stealth), I don't see a problem with having tools in the game that make you into a god or demi-god in a single-player game. If you think it's too powerful, don't use or abuse it. It's really that simple.

To be clear, I was simply informing the OP that chameleon was incredibly overpowered, contrary to his belief. Not once did I complain. Even with the Ring of Khajiiti, which gives only 35% Chameleon, I was practically undetectable.
That said, I also never said that I am against Chameleon being in the game. I strongly believe that if you want to work toward becoming a demi-god, then you are welcome to it. I merely said that it was indeed overpowered. As you said, it would only be overpowered if it was used how smithing and enchanting are by people.

This. SOOOOO MUCH THIS.

All of the "I lackz teh self control! Pleez cut content, Beth!" people are ruining the series. They understand neither the terms "optional features" or "play how you want". They gleefully support cutting optional content because apparently they can't enjoy the game unless Beth forces them (and everyone else) down a semi-linear playstyle.

Sigged. People like this are ruining the ES series, as are the devs who listen to them. I like having the option of becoming a nearly unstoppable juggernaut because that's the kind of fun I usually like.

Spells should be balanced, not removed. The question is, how are we going to feel when they do the next TES game, and shouts will be gone?

As long as they bring them back in spell form like they should be anyway I'll be more than happy to see shouting go away. Stupid Nords and their stupid gimmicks.

No it is because like smithing now. Too many whinners crying that it was over powered. If you want to make it 100% that was your choice. I ususally only made it 75% to 80% to keep it interesting. I am sick as another thread I was reading earlier. BGS keeps taking crap out of the games. Because people have no self control and then blame the company for making things overpowered. I am really tired of seeing this argument on the forums. If it was up to some of the people the game would be gutted down to nothing. Because of this kind of hand holding philosophy games will just get worse and worse. Bad enough now I am starting to lose interest in the games companies release anymore, because of how crappy and streamlined they have become in recent years.

But the skill tree wouldn't be useless, it would be there for people who want to sneak but not roleplay a mage. Multiple paths to the same goal, BALANCE doesn't matter in a single player game!! Who was getting hurt by mages sneaking without leveling up thief skills in previous TES, NO ONE!

Balance doesn't matter to you. It matters to me, to other people posting here, and to Bethesda. If you don't want a balanced game, well then "tgm" and have your own kind of fun, but the vanilla game should be as well balanced as possible.

To me, it comes down to this: magic, as it existed in previous games, made mages better thieves than thieves. They were far better at speechcraft, mercantile, stealth, and lockpicking with an investment in only two of their skills, alteration and illusion. It makes playing as a non-magic thief a wrong choice, and wrong choices are bad game design.

Why would they take a perfectly good spell/enchantment out of the game? Why can't I bacome 100% chemeleon anymore? That was fun. Now I'm stuck with invicibility, which quite frankly svcks. And don't give me that it was over powered bull crap. Because it wasn't.

Uh, it wasn't overpowered to be completely, permanently not visible?

It was definitely overpowered, and they removed it to have one less game-breaking mechanic.

Was it a good decision? I dunno, I agree with it personally, i'd rather see them pare down the number of ways you can be ludicrously unbeatable.

Ah, I see. Well I misinterpreted your post, which is my bad.

I just wish this game left tools in the game for the three main play styles that could make you into a demi-god. I rather enjoy playing the game "normally," but without some crazy spells, enchantments, or weapons, I feel bored after one or two playthroughs. Abusing alchemy, enchanting, and smithing has given Skyrim some more life for me, but without some interesting spells and enchantments, such as chameleon and levitate, it won't last very long. I think it's important for balance, but I also think there should be some insanely-powerful tools available to those that know where to look or know what to do. I see it as a reward for playing the game thoroughly (or in many cases, reading game wikis and watching Youtube videos).
