you were able to transfer weapons, clothing, armor, potions and or gold between your characters?

no, that would kill the whole point of having separate characters

What is this aversion people have to starting a fresh character? Half the fun is having my character get better as the game goes on. Starting out weak and under-equipped and having to make do with what I have on hand.

This game pretty much requires multiple play throughs, different character traits aside. I had so many game breaking bugs on my first run (couldn't do Thieves Guild line, couldn't complete no stone unturned, couldn't complete forbidden legend, and much more), and even on my second run, I can't do a few quests and I have a number of glitched items. And of course every time these bugs are brought up in the "bug forum" 80% of the response is "LOL start over!".

this
in an MMO your characters all exist in the same world
each character I play in Skyrim exists in an alternate reality seperate from all the others making their own story
I don't want this
maybe if enough people do it will be added to future games but from my pov its a waste of the developers time which could be spent more usefully on other things

I'm experiencing the exact same thing.

btw, what's up with the ignorance? Now listen, and listen good: I respect people for playing Skyrim the way it is meant, with different disconnected characters etc. However, I, as a PS3 gamer, suffer from a variety of things in Skyrim, and I would as MANY others love this addition.

I mean, when it's optional whether you want to transfer stuff or not, why complaint? If you want to play it without, then leave the option, and if you want to use the option, then do.

We have to tolerate different wishes.

I think it is you who carry the ignorance. what you have been saying so far is, you either agree with me, or shut up.

People have the right to voice their views even they are different to yours, to post your wish on a public forum, you should expect some disagreements. Most of the time you might find that if your idea is good, more people would likely agree with you, by fighting and talk back constructively is not make your suggestion of any greater value.

If you just want make a suggestion and wish with no other opinions contrasts to yours, you might want to consider sending your request to the developer directly.

The game is a single player game and has a story and progression based on the player's action, it would not be a story if you want to take away the fact that your character is a Dragonborn and just want to make the game your WoW simulation.

My current crop of toons are NOT dragonborn, and having done that once, I won't ever again. You see, just one more way to play.... And it's a way to play which Beth has always supported - TES is a collection of games which provide relatively "open" worlds, in which people can play mostly any way they wish. For which I'm VERY thankful. I've been playing TES since Arena - and 99% of the attraction and replay value for me is NOT doing the MQ on any but one toon.

I couldnt care less about being the Champion of Cyrodiil in Oblivion. I never progressed the MQ further than taking Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple. I swore to myself that this wouldnt happen with Skyrim. And for a while, that held true, but then I started slacking. I did the MQ upto the quest to retrieve the Horn, then got sidetracked. Picked up Diplomatic Immunity quest, got sidetracked. I advanced a bit more, but then reloaded and backtracked. I've been doing a bunch of side quests, guild tasks and exploring, just like I do in Oblivion.

'fraid you'll go begging for that... there IS no tolerance for some reason. (Well, I'M tolerant, but that's because I fully agree with you.... so that's like a non-starter....)

My main objection would be that it's needlessly complex and restrictive. "Trading" doesn't add any "realism", and isn't technologically required (or even any easier to implement) than just letting the player grab any possible item for free (as they already can on PC).
Such an implementation allows all the exact same effects as trading AND MORE, so would better serve a larger segment of the gaming public.
We have to tolerate different wishes, after all.
