I was just wishing that I could do that yesterday so I could give my girlfriend some stuff for her new character. But that would just allow you to make low level character over-powered.

Yeah, I know that your new character would seem over powered, but If you've gained the items once, then why proving that you can do it again?

Allowing players to transfer items will enable many new opportunities

Yeah, I wish we could. It would free up a lot of perks with which to play around. MMOs with mailbox systems allow for it by allowing the creation of crafting mules. Yeah, I know about the overpowered thing, but with the console commands that becomes a non-issue for PC players so Bethesda could throw console game players a few crumbs.

The game has a story and the world flows with a system, it would not make sense to allow you to pass on your gear to a another dragonborn.

I'd have to say no. It would unbalance the game too much since their are no requirements to equip gear. Transfering high level equipment (Glass, Ebony, et cetera), especially stuff that you have smithed or enchanted would be too much. And forget about Daedric artifacts.

I thought about it too the other day, and I would like to have it when starting a new character to make him look the way I want as soon as possible by sending basic, non-upgraded armor and a couple of enchanted rings and such.

So what if it overpowers, if someone wants to run amok OH'ing everybody, let them, its their [censored] game. This idea didn't stop the Pokemon franchise from allowing you to trade stuff. You could train a Mewtwo to level 99, trade it to a new game and [censored] everybody.

I'd like to see this happen though

What is this aversion people have to starting a fresh character? Half the fun is having my character get better as the game goes on. Starting out weak and under-equipped and having to make do with what I have on hand.

True, but just because you like it that way, it doesn't have to influence everyone. At least it should be optional to enhance to liberty of the game!

You have the option to play on PC and use the command console to spawn items for yourself.

Well, I like be able to 'tour' and having to watch my back everywhere at lower levels detracts from that. I'll level one character the hard way, but sometimes it just gets to be too much taking several characters up the hard way especially in a game this 'large'. Granted, the Oghma Infinium works to a certain degree, but there are perks with which I'd like to experiment, but I'm always gear-oriented so I feel the need to level Smithing and Enchantment basically all the way on both characters which takes a lot of perks. Basically, I'd like to be able to Smith and Enchant on one character and trade that gear to another so he/she has more perks to spend elsewhere. And I don't want to us the Oghma to get to level 81 just for more perks. Bethesda could lock unique items to be untrade-able just like we can't sell/drop/store quest items. :P

Opportunities like what, buying items from Chinese game farmers? I can think of no worse possible "opportunity" to offer the Skyrim gaming community, not any other likely result.

It would make more sense just to allow players to add any item they wish to their inventory without any outside oversight, trading, or restriction. This isn't a MMORPG, so why should they restrict what I can have in my game to what I can find to "trade" with somebody else?
Bonus points because hey, YOU CAN ALREADY DO THAT (via console commands.) Once there's a system in place allowing mods on consoles, adding such a function to consoles would also be easy (essentailly just a matter of making an interface for the existing command).

Wanna trade? You can still do that. Chuck you item you are "trading away" in the trash, then have your "trading buddy" add the same item to inventory via the existing commands.

Hey not everyone can afford a high end computer to play games on, so maybe he doesn't have that option nor do I.

I read the OP's idea as being between our own characters. Even if she meant between contacts on friend's lists that was possible in Fable II and III (did it quite often actually - it was encouraged because of unique weapons) and I was never harassed by an RMT.

Yeah, because that would allow you get high high quality craftable items without spending a couple of hours grinding daggers. Where's the fun in that?

I've occasionally thought this. Mostly coming across a specific piece of gear (Daedric boots of 40% better smithing or sneaking, something my mage character has little use for)...

Not always to transfer artifacts and such. Sometimes sending them a bit of gold as well.

But no, I'd rather not have such a function.

I *think* there's a mod for pc that enables this between one's own toons. I have no idea where or when I saw it. But a skate through skyrim nexus might be a thought....

You can never cater for everyone, specially to fringe groups of people who want to play a single-player game like an MMORPG and create a "twink" character. Therefore you have a choice, mods, which is already more than what other games offer.

I rather see Bethesda spend their time elsewhere more productive, namely Dual-casting two different spells can yield special effects or combos.

I think it's a great idea. Sure Over-Powered blah blah blah. So? What if I want to be? What if I want to easily crush any enemy. There are no rules on how to play, obviously. So if you're worried about it 'breaking' your game, simply don't use it. If you want to have fun being a level 1 Nord with full Legendary Daedric, with the best enchantments. I'd say go for it, use said "Mailbox" if you want to start of with nothing and work your way up. Simply ignore that it's even there.

Obviously some programmer has to code it and some QA has to test it. So basically at some point it boils down to making this and benefit the 0.001% of the people who wants it or fixing that annoying weapon rack bug and benefit 100% of the people who play skyrim.

I, for one, prefers my dragonbane to stay on the [censored] rack.

I don't know. I'm not sure what the point would be in being able to send stuff to other characters. In Skyrim, the world is what you make it to be, by choices your character makes.

In something like WoW, where the world stays the same (or mostly so) for everyone, and where you have heirloom weapons and armor the express purpose of which is to hasten leveling, it makes sense. That game has had a number of expansions, each of which has raised the level cap, and after you've played through a few times, the thought of slogging through the same material yet again loses appeal. The thing about the heirloom items is that they level with your toon, so that they'd be (almost) best-in-slot for your toon's level. You don't give a level 1 an epic weapon with level 85 stats. Really, the boars in Elwynn Forest aren't that tough. Also, you can only give items usable by the receiving class. Plate armor that starts out as mail and a 2H sword are fine for a new warrior, but totally useless to a mage.

OTOH, I think I can see the flip side to this. It might be nice to take my mostly leveled guy with all his skills into an untouched Skyrim, if only for the novelty.

I think we all can agree that this addition would unbalance the game and mess up the whole Dragonborn thing.
However, I really believe that people should have the option at least. I mean, I respect people who want to play the game as it is meant, so why shouldn't they respect other people wanting to play it with slightly different options?
