Your opinion on dragons

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 2:37 pm

Yep, so true most of what I read. Dragons are awesome. But far too common, which makes them like rats after a while. I mean you find more dragons than skreevers. Lol :D

I'm at the point where when I see I just run away HARD and than crouch until they are gone. I just dont like the fights. Wayy too easy but takes a few minuts since all they do is circle lol.

Being a dragon fan for a long time, I have a certain idea on how dragons should look. Skyrim nailed it! I just love to watch the dragons fly and land and fight. I couldn't have asked for anything else. They totally meet my expectations, surpass them even.

The Dragons look amazing! I especially love the times when I can actually interact and talk to some of those creatures! Well done, very well done! :)

I like them, but I wish there were more you could talk to.

Tiber employed several dragons during his lifetime. Course alduin wasn't around to force them into his servitude.

Dragons are awesome! :D

I love dragons, but if they attack me I will fight them.

The ones in Skyrim, they're good.
Not enough variety in appearance though.

Alduin seriously needs something to make him look diferent, a blue stripe, markings, anything. It's hard to hit him and not Paathunax, when he's fighting Paathunax in High Hrothgar.

They have some bad timing though, sometimes.
They have interupted a few assasinations, stealing Frost every time, trying to sell stuff, lots of things.
I was on the emporers ship, and about to open a door and a dragon appeared and flambed the ship.
I ignored him and went inside.

Sometimes they help in assasinations.
A dragon attacked a high visability target, killed him, I killed the dragon.

Random dragon attacks, awesome. :D

I wish they were harder though, sometimes.

Dragons look great and for as long as you don't use fast travel they aren't common at all. However, they're too easy to defeat.

I love it when the battle is so epic that they are all bloody when they've taken enough damage.

Oh and "sneak attack" breaths >_>.

I love the dragons. I start the Main Quest even with characters who are not the Dragonborn, just to get dragons in their games. (Not a mod, these characters simply ignore the souls and Shouts.) I’m glad they will still show up after the MQ is over. I use mostly low-end gear, so dragon fights are still battles. Yay dragons!

As you and others have said, the look of dragons and animations etc. are really well done. But I feel they are to common and not 'epic' battles like they claimed they would be. They should be less common and more powerful. That way, the chance of finding a dragon is quite rare so it doesn't become a nuisance, and also when you do find a dragon the battle will be epic because they are difficult to defeat.

I think they look great, after a while though the fights are to similar to one another. Still fun killing em though. I think if they gave them different attacks and more shouts they could be alot better

I'm a fan of their flying animations, and noticed the animation is even better in game than it was in the official trailer. One thing I've noticed recently (post 1.5) is the animation where a flying dragon will fly straight up at the zenith of the sky and then dive bomb down again. The most common interaction I have with dragons in my game is watching non-hostile dragons fly around, and watching a non-hostile dragon do this almost playfully was entertaining (plus I love the sound they make).

What I don't like about them is that I am more concerned with being surprised by a Snow Bear than a Dragon.

Otherwise, they are great.

Make dragons bosses (and not just random guys waiting for you to kill 'em) and dragons are golden

Sick of lesser dragons locking me out of Fast Travel, ignoring me, never wanting to land, or kill the poor (but extremely brave) farm-grade dagger equipped grandpa

Really should have a scene where a fearsome dragon (with lots and lots of HP) attacks a town and the whole town defends against it, and the dragon flies from one roof to another, as we climb towers to gain better vision. Must be very awesome. Make it happen in Markarth for better result

They aren't menacing enough. In your first encounter at Helgen, it smashes its head through the tower and fries somebody.

I think if they could knockdown your follower (not fatally) and attack the player more often, that would be good. Also, it would be nice if there were bystanders spawned that would be eaten, picked up and dropped on the player (maybe on fire and explode when dropped), and easily killed by the dragon, that would create a better atmosphere.

What I don't want is a giant damage sponge as my challenge.

Dark Souls' dragons are way more creative and versatile, with different combat abilities, styles, attacks, etc...

In Dark Souls, you might encounter :

A Red Dragon, that's normal

An Undead Dragon...

A Scaleless Dragon, who is the traitor to the ancient immortal dragons... AND...

The GAPING DRAGON, which might be the most original dragon I've seen in a looooong time...

And then you'll see that :

A LOT of times....

DS pwns.

Those are deeply awesome dragons.

I really like pretty much everything about dragons. Sure, they attack like crazy.. but that's what they're supposed to do! Alduin is going around and awakening all of the resting dragon souls. It's not like there was just a couple of them back before The Dragon War; there were a lot of them, and since they can't technically die unless a Dragonborn absorbs their souls, they didn't actually die when they were killed during The Dragon War.

Add to all of that the fact that you, the player, are the Dragonborn, and you have a lot of dragons coming after you very frequently. The dragons pretty much view you as one of their own kind, to a point, so they also see you as a threat because dragons are always trying to prove who is the most powerful among them. They cannot resist the temptation to try and prove that they are more powerful than the Dragonborn, one who has been saved by Alduin himself and has slain other dragons also.

So, it might be kind of annoying to have so many dragons attacking, but they're just trying to be true to the lore that they've already come up with.

I had an Ancient Dragon attacking Markarth once.

i had a dragon attack windhelm, killed some homeless guy but the rest defended the town pretty well

reminds me of a battle i had, leapt of a tower and swung at it as i was falling and initiated the fininisher move animation, was rather cool.

all in all they are very well done and can be the subject of some epic battles. they are not overused if you stay to just after killing the first, i have only came accross 2 on this playthrough beacause i have ignored they greybeards

I wouldn't mind having weak dragons flying around and attacking you, like they are young and trying to find their own roost. Then having extremely powerful ones at the dragon roosts, since they are already settled in and have their territory. Then maybe a couple boss level dragons that you have to go find as part of a dragon-slayer quest. Set it up so you have to go through a dragon's lair, maybe with some of its brood in it, then emerge onto a mountain top or a high clearing, only to find a very ancient, very tough, and extremely angry dragon waiting for you.
