I feel (for serious TES players only)

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 3:49 pm

A lot of people want to discuss (considering this IS a forum) about how serious they are about this game. A lot want to bash it. Some people compare it to earlier titles or different games. Some want to give there feedback in to add game play features. Some people don't want to explain why or how they play because it's up to them anyway. I see a lot of unneeded hostility on this forum.

I indeed want to discuss Skyrim, hence why I am on here, but sometimes I don't understand why people are overly serious about talking about it. Sure we can all debate about things but in the end your up here and reading what people say.

Yeah, a lot of what you say (hate cliche but ...) : is sad but true.

Where I stand: The Skyrim game has made me more serious about TES than any other TES game. It has made me
go back and dig out Daggerfall. It has made me go back and play Morrowind.

I went back to Daggerfall, cuz I remember the "surprise, a courier just placed a note in your inventory quests".

They are there in Skyrim , the only difference is: You get to see the guy run up to you and tell you about it.
Now, only if you actually saw the guy holding that piece of paper and you accepting it with your hand in game, would it be a bit better.

I guess that would be another thread to open......comparisons to previous games.....oh wait, there is a post there somewhere......

I'm not sure, at this point, what this thread is s'posed to be about. Is it just a place to post whether or not you feel you are a serious TES player, or is just a general discussion about what you think about the TES games? Or maybe just a place to vent about pointless posts cropping up on the forums? Cause I honestly don't know what's safe to discuss. o.o;

I see the OPs point in the fact of the childish posts of Skyrim Rocks and It is Soo Kooool with no real feedback to add seems like a waste of typing and someone wanting to be heard just for attention on the internet. At the same time the OP makes him/herself sound like an elitist a** when trying to get their point across. People are twisting the OPs post and not seeing what they are trying to say at the same time. But this is what you get when a company goes mainstream and attracts all the kiddys around. I have no problem with those childish posts, I just ignore them and do not click on it as another poster already said.

Sorry about sounding like an elitist ass. Guess it's part of my personality. It comes from a corporate drilled life I guess.

I don't mean it.......in a bad way......but, I can see where you are coming from. I hope that doesn't make me a total ass.

Totality has a whole other meaning you know. I like the elite part.

:) Awesome post.

Thanks.

Telling people that they aren't "real" or "series" fans of the series because they don't get as involved as you do is rather insulting. Complaining about certain types of posts on the forum is also hardly helpful or constructive, and it just brings your content down to the same level. You're right, there's a fair amount of fluff posting here, but just because a discussion lacks depth doesn't mean it is inappropriate. If you feel that the level of discourse is insufficient I suggest you try one of two things: either ignore those posts or threads that don’t appeal to you, or lead by example and respond in a more constructive manner. Shouting at people to do better is a poor means of getting the results you’re after.

Not every thread needs to be a treatise of staggering importance. If people just want to gab off a little, and they don’t get off topic or too chatty, that’s fine. I certainly prefer the more constructive discussions on gameplay mechanics or the game’s setting, but these can coexist with “What is your favorite city” and “OMG look at this hialrious SkyRim video!” [sic]
