Skyrim Needs More Creatures

Where are the cats. we have dogs but no cats!

i`m calling cat racism.

Hey, come to think of it, why don`t Khajitts have pet dogs? Wouldn`t that be delicious revenge for them?

How come there are no dog beast races? that`s unfair on the dog.

Hey shouldn`t every animal be a possible humanoid race? Wolf beast races, Bear beast races? Chicken beast races?

Somebody stop meeee!

"You remind me of my aunt's cat. Killed that, too!"

Edit: Or maybe it's a story like the Dwemer. They all disappeared in a catastrophe.

It's for two reasons. First, Beth FINALLY created a game where the vast majority of animals weren't out trying to earn a "I killed a PC" t-shirt. In fact, most of them are non-hostile, and will actually attack each other from time to time.
Second, the dungeons use a much more limited selection of creatures, so they feel boring after a little while

The creature department is pretty sad in this game.

In Oblivion you were out walking along it was, pretty much"Oh Sh!t!" all the time. You have Orges, Minotaurs, difrent dadera creatures, vampires, bandits, maurders and so on.

In Skyrim, its wolves, bears and sabercats, oh look a mudcrab I am shaking with fear..hold me! Sure, you could stumble on a bandit, or perhaps a vampire or maybe even a conjurer, but those seem to be rare events. I do however run into dragons, your first time through its fun, second time through, its mostly leave me the hell alone.

hokers, Deer, Foxes, Giants, Mammoths anything else that does not attack you on sight is not in my book of the hostile creature list in Skyrim. It's more along the lines of a player trying to say there is more when there is not. It's like a mirage in the desert.

There is far less enimies in Skyrim, i think this is because the DEVs, spent a lot of time making sure the dragons were perfect. Would have been nice to get that "Oh sh!t!" again feeling when out and about but that simply is not the case. Skyrim's wilds are a kitten compared to Cyrodil's.

We had a topic about this just a few days ago. There are actually more creatures in skyrim than oblivion or morrowind. Deal with it.

Always a nice way to end a sentence and not seem like a dike. That said, a lack of variety of creatures would be at the bottom of the list as far as problems this game has.

Sorry... But it doesn't matter that there is more, what matters is how many. Having more doesn't mean it's what it could/should be. Skyrim felt too empty for a populated province (even for snowy mountains, it's empty feeling.) They may have added more, but they didn't add enough.

You going by the ideal that "At least it's not as bad as it could be" but not being as bad as it could be doesn't justify it at all... Look at politics, that's their main excuse,

They should of had gargoyles since it's mostly rock and snow and it fits with the mountaineous region, awesome for archery practice and if they made them ultra fast so you did'nt see them until they were trying to carry you off,it would also give the dragons something to worry about as the creatures would attack them aswel.they should of given the vampire the matrix speed hit spell,it would make them extremely hard to knock down unless you're using xilvers midaspells mod where you lay a paralysis rune down to trap it.The spiders should have been given a paralysis venom which would knock you out for a good 4 secs.someone bring back the mountain lion to give the sabertooth a bit of company, the trolls, well what can i say, happy monkeys.they should of made the hargraven trolls wear some falmer type armour making it twice as hard to kill.something that i personally felt was missing from the dwemer ruins was another antagonist that was out to kill everything,a new race of beings that are subterraneaum, stone warriors that are made up of different classes, malachite, iron, ebony.you never know when one would fold out from the wall except if you notice the colour differences in the stone.the hargraven should of gotten shooting poisonous quills aswel, the wisp mother, someone get rid of her or give her a siren song spell that lulls you for 4 seconds to get her out of trouble.the graphical realism is cool but the fantasy should be fantastic, bring back the wisp, they were a nuisance but dangerous in large numbers and a good source of glowdust and you never could get a bead on them when they started to move. How about different armour sets that are powered by soulgem fragments embedded in the metal, like storm armour boots gives you the lash and grab force that negates gravity for 5 to 10 secs, basically neo running on ceillings and walls, once the charge is up you either have to wait for recharge or use a soulgem charge up,that idea came from a great author who's finishing robert jordans book series of the wheel of time.

I miss a large Daedra variation.
Dark Seducers, Golden Saints, Ogrim, Winged Twilight, Daedroth, Clannfear, Scamps, Xiviliai, Spider Daedra...

I don't know why so many get upset about this thread? The option for more bad meanie monsters is not a bad thing.

As a PC player I expected a lot more. As far as I know, the game had a tight deadline and we got what we got. The forums state they're going to fix stuff up this year (what they will fix, not 100% sure).

As it is, more mobs that make you go "WTF is that? Ah help!" is not a bad thing.

It hasnt been noted, that some mobs like mammoths and giants you don't really have contact with as they can one shot you (well, I stay away from them). So theres 2 mobs I don't even see!!

Okay there may be more types of creatures, something I don't see but I haven't looked at lists so I can't say however. I do no that there are vastly more dragons, giants, brears and wolves than ANYTHING else. Not in dungeons I mean just roaming the wilderness. Compare to oblivon I reguarly saw minotaurs, trolls, goblins, bears, scamps, imps, wisps, land Dreughs, wolves, (rarely) xiviali and clanfears. Those are the ones of the top of my head. Im a skyrim really devoted fan and this doesn't bother me too much BUT I can see why people are unhappy.

There are quite a few unique enemies which you only encounter through quests. E.g. the Meridia, Gildergreen, Peryite, Dagon ones.

Quite a few monsters are restricted to certain habitats as well like the Falmer and Chaurus, the various types of Draugh, the Dwemer mechanoids, so you don't see them if you are just wandering around on the surface.

I would have liked to see a few more of the creatures from Bloodmoon though, like frost giants and boar-riding rieklings.
It probably also feels like fewer creatures because of the lack of exotic daedra everywhere. Not counting Oblivion, Morrowind had lots of these lurking around the daedric shrines.

Skyrim's surface creatures are mostly more mundane things like normal or prehistoric animals. There are very few exotic things in the wilderness - just giants, trolls, and um, dragons. Oblivion had goblins, lots of types of daedra, zombies, dreugh, wil-o-wisps, trolls, ogres, minotaurs, and so on. So the wilderness was more fantastical.

I imagine the Skyrim expansions will introduce lots of new creatures though. Shivering Isles was brimming with new ones.

very good, but i think that bethesda has never really cared much about the sea, if they have more life in the water by adding fishes like in skyrim then they take away the ability to attack, but it would have been cool to see something big come out of the water.
