Here's a list I found on the wiki - http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Enemies_(Skyrim) . Not sure how accurate it is, because I ain't seen no goblins or rats, nor have I been attacked by a bat before.

So that makes there less creatures in Skyrim? Also, if you want to tell me off, have the balls to do it

happy reading Garth

tl;dr

Well, thing is, it was directed at more than you, sir. Monkey Hominid really commenced the slippery slope with his insightful 'deal with it'. Throw in a belittling 'that's nice' and we pick up speed even further.

Funny thing about TES is that the games feel smaller and smaller with lesser diversity, with each new installment.

We had a topic about this just a few days ago. There are actually more creatures in skyrim than oblivion or morrowind. Deal with it.

39 vs 36

Yep huge difference, too bad BGS can't implement then right to make it feel that large. Especially with only one variation undead.

I don't know about that, but this enemys in Skyrim sure feel less, if not very easy to kill. Deers? Rabbits? Wolves? Give me a break. Instead of those silly creatures they should have added those tough creatures from Morrowind like the Nix-hounds, Kagoutis, Cliff Racers, Guars and many more.

I wish there were Minotaurs and Centaurs in this game. That would add a nice flavor. Along the lines of animals, I wish there were more dragons. I want to have to worry about swarms of dragons, not just one at a time.

Partly I think this feeling is due to the larger number of non-hostile creatures in Skyrim, something which I really like.

Though Im not sure if Skyrim really has more creatures than Oblivion, it certainly doesnt feel that way.
Is this counting all the different types of draugr as seperate creatures? Because that would explain it.
Meanwhile a draugr deathlord and a draugr death overlord, a dwemer centurion and a master centurion, those count one creature in my book, not two.

I don't think the problem is diversity, though I'd have no complaints about expanding the bestiary -- it's the concentration of bandits and draugr that you wind up facing in your adventures. All other creatures are either non-hostile (which is nice) or rather rare.

all i ever see is the odd fox and if you don't have the shout "Aural whisper" or detect life you're never going to know theres two slaughter fish 30 meters downwind sitting in the river, the odd hawk flies over then you hear a howl and then you waste the wolves and maybe, just maybe a ice wraith jumps in,too much snow drift clogging the visuals,in the end can't see the wraith because the weather suddenly went from sunny to full storm.

A ice reptile ambusher, maybe weak ice that pulls you down to a death hole regardless of your level, even slippery ice that sends you over the cliffside.

I think i have to start disabling a few mods as i faced two dragons yet only one was fully skinned, that was a hell fight,a storm and an ancient frost on top of sky alter mountain, kept hitting me non stop, had to use my cheat ring just to stay alive, tried to bring them down with arrows but in the end had to use magic and sword while jumping constantly.

So I should do like you say or I get in big trouble? Gosh that gives me pause. :bunny:

For your illumination, I only said that once. My other snippy posts are about various other subjects.

Since you seem to feel I am in error, it seems to me that the burden of proof falls on your ample, bossy shoulders.

Oh get over it, I actually went back and edited the "bossiness" out of my post. Clearly you saw it before I did tho. But you haven't dazzled me with any evidence yet, and I doubt you will.

The only thing i find missing from Skyrim is the lack of dangerous stuff in the rivers and lakes. I was kind of hoping that there would be sea monsters that would attack you if you went exploring underwater. Either way if your on PC someone will make a mod that adds more creatures.

LMAO. I might actually download such a mod, for nostalgia's sake. Then promptly delete it after 5 minutes. lol

I was hoping for such things as well, and also some dynamic sea-faring. These people are patterned after the vikings after all.

It's a bit of this, really.

Morrowind didn't have much of any other kind of fauna but hostile creatures, while Oblivion had a few types of non-hostile creatures that were still quite outnumbered by hostile types.

What Skyrim has is what feels much closer to an actual eco-sphere with the diversity and where they're found. I'd like to see a nudge in the numbers of creatures found throughout the map, but I don't want it turned into just constantly fighting battles from one to the next once having stepped out of a city.

Personally, I don't feel like the different creatures FEEL different enough. A bear and a cat are essentially the same in my experience (or wolves for that matter, the only difference is how much damage they do and how much health they have). Most undead and bandits are the same. This makes things feel a lot more like reskins than different creatures.

I think the lack of combat depth in this manner isn't really new to TES games though. Fixing it via modding would require an overhaul of the combat system in general I think, so that creatures could feel more unique and combat would then have more depth so you had to adjust your tactics.

Hmm, though there's room for improvement even with the current system. Though I think it suffers from the fact defenses can get so high all damage is a joke. That makes it hard to design around.
