Who here has never played as a beast race?

I never done it either, I'm probably missing out on something really cool gameplaywise... I'm unsure exactly what that is though.

Too much of an alien concept for my tiny brain to handle perhaps.

I chose to play an Argonian in Skyrim because of lore. Didn't want to play a Nord, so next closest dragonborn choice had to be a zard. And I'm loving it, being recognized by other Argonians as marsh-friend and egg-sister warms my (coldblooded) heart, getting occasional derogatory "What do you want, lizard" and putting in my blacklist those who say it, is cool. Now that I know more about the whole dragonborn thing, I'd play an Altmer as dragonborn - for the irony of it. And when I have time to get to it, I'll play an Argonian Nerevarine in Morrowind - also for the irony of it (Argonian slaves and all). I'm tempted to try Khajiit, but I just can't figure out a good backstory to tie it with main story. Maybe in Oblivion.

So it's a gimped race in Morrowind?!?
Argonians can wear helmets, just not ones with a closed face. There's a mod to enable them to wear boots, too. Even without it though Argonians are badass in Morrowind. The waterbreathing is useful and the poison immunity is quite an advantage.

I never have or considered it. I guess I am stunted, only able to relate to the human or elf hero. However this topic has made me aware of my racism and I am now considering an Argonian whenever I am done with my Imperial and Nords.

One of my characters is a kitty. I completely modeled her after my own Siamese lynx point kitty. She's a stealthy killer. No one sees her coming. and she doesn't have to get close either.

I have never played as a beast race in any TES games. In Morrowind I didn't, same with Oblivion. My next build is going to be a Khajiit assassin.

So who here has never played as a beast race?

I never have and I never will. It doesn't really fit my RP. I play imperials or bretons - only I guess since it has been that way since morrowind. Now it's really an aesthetic choice since no racial boni really matter (vice breton magic resist.)

I haven't yet, and my reasoning is quite odd. I roleplay to a certain extent, and for me that requires for me to identify with my character. I build a story around them; who they are, what they do, what their personalities are...etc. The problem I have with beast races is that I can't identify with them, it's as if their almost alien appearance cloaks their character from me. Which is somewhat odd, because I'm a male IRL, and yet I have no problem playing female characters despite how you'd think it would be difficult to identify with one of the opposing gender. I'm just weird I guess.

Never. It used to be because of the backwards legs and clipping issues. Now, just plain don't like playing as one. Something about a weird distaste for furries or something. Can't explain it.

I would have no problem playing as one of the beast races, though I have yet to.

I usually do everything with one character, and I prefer to have at least one character who is the native race. If I was to make another character, it would probably come from one of the other races who also get their share of facetime (Imperial, Breton, Altmer, Dunmer), as I wouldn't want my character to feel too out of place. Especially with Skyrim, it's hard to imagine them having any reason to be in the snowy province, which would make it feel strange as a Khajit/Argonian dragonborn.

Maybe once in Daggerfall briefly. No feedback from the game for doing so kind of negates the purpose.
