Do you 'bury' you fallen comrades?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 12:07 am

I tend to drag them under a bush or next to a rock, and don't loot them...except for things that don't figure much in warrior death mythology, like money, potions, gear I have them carting around.

I haven't had to 'bury' a follower yet as the only one I've had so far stays at home to 'take care of affairs' while I'm away. However, if I defeat a worthy foe (such as the old Orc wishing for an honorable death [Umbra?]), I'll position their body in a dignified manner and leave their weapon by their side. Also, I make sure to leave them with two septims (to pay the 'ferryman' on their journey to Sovngarde), plus something from my own inventory as a gesture of honor among warriors.

I had Janessa die on me the other day, so I took a break from questing and took her mace, shield and bow to the grassy cliffs east of whiterun overlooking the hot springs. I left her bow on a cliff, threw her mace over a waterfall and left her shield at a shrine to Talos. Its something i've done since Oblivion.

Yeah, that's pretty cool

i do a similar thing.
You probably haven`t played Morrowind, but in that you could totally bury `them`, so their body vanished. Same with any other body.

I wish that was in Skyrim.

Um.. I was playing Arena back in 94, keep those snotty comments to yourself.

i havent had the misfortune of having a follower die yet... although i commit the bodies of every single one of my kajhiit bretheren to a fire. So they may rise in ashes and once again find the warm sands of our birth.

Fantastic I've never thought of that before. It will now be added to my to do list. Thanks for the idea

Sounds quite interesting. It's too bad I don't find any of the followers deep enough characters to have the privelage of accompanying the Dragonborn on his/her travels. None of the cool characters are followers. If someone good dies, I usually just send them down river.

Apparently there is a dead follower delivery service in Skyrim. The only follower I've ever had was Lydia way back when I was level five. Just the other day at level forty one I received a letter of Inheritance from the jarl Markarth I think telling my a family member had died and left me 100 gold. The jarl also took out a ten gold tax. When I returned to my Breezy Home in Whiterun I found Lydia laying dead on the floor in the spare bedroom. I just left her on the floor.

Janessa died yesterday, while we were trying to get the Staff of Magnus.
I didn't realize until the battle was over.
It was quite emotional for me, but I did not reload, just let it be as it adds to the story.
I put flowers around her, and took the two gifts I gave her, a bow and shield, that I will display together in a house I want to get later on.

Companions I give great honor if I liked them. As an assassin, I leave a red mountain flower on the chest of my victims (unless they were someone I hated).

Since I try to avoid fighting with others I just let their bodies stay where they are, take their items and go about my way.

There are 2 bodies lying in riverwood where a dragon attacked and killed them.

There was a gravedigger mod for fallout new vegas where you could bury the dead and it would spawn a grave, I used that for companions...

dont know if there is a similar mod for skyrim yet...

I usually take a minute to admire their body, say thanks for what they've done for me, but then take their main weapon only. I leave 100 gold for the afterlife, and take the signature weapon to my house, and try to find a display case or something for it.
