Do you 'bury' you fallen comrades?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:36 am

I had Janessa die on me the other day, so I took a break from questing and took her mace, shield and bow to the grassy cliffs east of whiterun overlooking the hot springs. I left her bow on a cliff, threw her mace over a waterfall and left her shield at a shrine to Talos. Its something i've done since Oblivion.

That is a great idea. I will do this next time one dies. Thanks

Try to pick a place fitting to who they were. Like Janessa I imagined liked to flow through life, so I tossed her mace into a flowing river. Her bow overlooked eastmarch, with one arrow left behind as if her spirit always had that one shot left.

No. I instead bring them back to life to rain unholy revenge on those that brought them to their end.

...Khajiit fears those around him. If Khajiit comrade dies, J'rahzir takes their stuff and sells it. Just like Khajiit knows they would have wanted their things to be handled.

When I got my Riften house, I took my new housecarl for a nice stroll in the forest around the area in the hopes she would die in a "terrible" hunting accident. I rejoyced when a bear attacked but she survived, so I had to "finish the accident" that the useless bear could not do himself.

I did not bury her per say, but I did drag her body next to the dead bear to make it look like they both fought to the death and died together. Perfect murder.

There was a thread a while back about how someone would make a memorial at the spot their Follower died. An amulet or two, some flowers and other alchemical ingredients could be arranged in a nice way. Something to remember them with the next time you walk by that spot.

Me, I just reload.

Oblivion had stone bricks you could pick up. I used to gather those and entomb fallen comrades sorta like this http://www.wickenburg-az.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/graves-at-ambush-site.jpg. With the shoddy grabbing and placing mechanics the process could take hours, but it was worth it. Then I'd wreath the grave with flowers and balance their weapon and/or shield on top, plus any personal items they had on them. Finally, I'd enchant something with their name and place it at the head.

Unfortunately, Skyrim doesn't have stone bricks. Instead, I try to prop them up in as dignified a position as possible against a tree or rock. I usually try to get them facing a beautiful view.

manipulation of in-game objects is broken and objects won't stay where placed.

otherwise, i would.

i don't even decorate my houses anymore and spent loads of time in the fallouts and past TES doing just that. with the broken systems that are in place i'd be wasting my time.

I place a Fire Rune down and drag their body on to it. I then surround them with Wall of Flames before launching two Fireballs onto the Rune then using YolToorShul to finish the job. I then turn their body to face west towards the setting sun, take their weapon and prop it on their body, and drop 1 red, blue, and purple mountain flower and a dragon's tongue on/around them.

Nope.... I cast Dead Thrall on them and keep them around till they die again. Then they are a dust pile.

That issue is only in the houses as the game resets them periodically. Out in the open, what you put there stays there. Of course, putting things exactly where and how you want them to be is another challenge.

I usually walk alone because all companions that I've tried showed great disrespect for Orcs ("you orc filth", "skyrim belongs to the nords" and such). It's getting harder and harder to be a good Orc in skyrim.

This one often sees to a befitting end, be it cremation or "other""

(( Last Rites spell mod, turns corpse' into a pile of ash, preventing them from being raised. ))

I don't use companions but I do this every time I fight a worthy and honorable foe (like a wandering warrior who challenges you); drag them off the road, under a tree, cover them with their shield (if they have one), lay their weapon(s) beside them and throw some mountain flowers over them.

When I die, lay me in a mound. Raise a stone for all to see, runes carved to my memory!

for my nord loyalist i was placing items at different outdoor shrines and when i'd go by them later the placed items would be scattered.

don't know if that's for everything outdoors, though.

I usually dump bodies in the river or "cremate" them by raising them from the dead and letting them turn to ash. Or both. A shrine is a nice idea though, especially if those items stay around for so long. I might try that one day.

Although I did resurrect J'zargo and teleported him back to the college.
