Do you 'bury' you fallen comrades?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:47 am

Whenever my followers die..........I never find their body.
I'd probably just stare at the body, drink a stamina potion, eat some bread, and pour some oil on the body.

Nope. I take their stuff.

This. Though, to be honest, I've never had anyone close to me die.

I keep Iona's body in the basemant. I think I should dump her into the river, though; after all, if she's found murdered in my house...

I don't arrange burials. I usually just leave something on my fallen follower's corpse - a flower, an amulet. And I always take something from them to remember them for. Although of course they all carry generic equipment and after 10 minutes I don't remember it was theirs. But at least I try

Try to pick a place fitting to who they were. Like Janessa I imagined liked to flow through life, so I tossed her mace into a flowing river. Her bow overlooked eastmarch, with one arrow left behind as if her spirit always had that one shot left.

That's [censored] beautiful, man. :goodjob:

I just escape the guilt by leaving them at their homes to munch bread all day. Haven't found one useful follower in Beth games except horses.

I sigh and resurrect them, as they've likely died due to having crap AI.

When I die, lay me in a mound. Raise a stone for all to see, runes carved to my memory!

\m/

love that song, and you gave me a new way to lay people to rest heavy metal style (take my follower to the nearest stone slab that necromancers can be found near or a good equlivent, put their body on it, put runes on the ground before the dead [or above, if possible])

When a companion gets killed, I just reload. However, when I killed the old orc looking for a worthy death, I pulled his body off the road and laid it in the shade in a dignified pose with his weapon across his chest.

When I got my Riften house, I took my new housecarl for a nice stroll in the forest around the area in the hopes she would die in a "terrible" hunting accident. I rejoyced when a bear attacked but she survived, so I had to "finish the accident" that the useless bear could not do himself.

I did not bury her per say, but I did drag her body next to the dead bear to make it look like they both fought to the death and died together. Perfect murder.

WE KNOW!

Haha yes I was just thinking about this yesterday and was going to make a thread! I was heart-broken when Lydia decided it would be best to run off infront of me and attack 2 trolls and a bear all by her little self, obviously it didn't end up well for her! So upset was I that I carried her corpse for ages till I found a nice spot amongst the rocks to lay her to rest! I picked some flowers and dropped them onto her body and layed her favorite enchanted sword next to her with her arm over it!

You might find this amusing but every now again I will do this with the prettier of the bandits too , afterall it was just a bad lifestyle choice on their part, after a good fight they deserve to die with dignity too  I actually killed a pretty blonde bandit yesterday who had a beautiful purple mountain flower in her inventory, I took this and laid it on her corpse as a mark of respect!

Glad to see I am not the only one with a concience ingame, call it RP'ing or just having a heart

I take the follower's body to a secluded area and reposition it so that the legs are straight and the arms are crossed. I place their weapon on top of them, place food around them, then set the body on fire with flames, like a funeral pyre.

I had Janessa die on me the other day, so I took a break from questing and took her mace, shield and bow to the grassy cliffs east of whiterun overlooking the hot springs. I left her bow on a cliff, threw her mace over a waterfall and left her shield at a shrine to Talos. Its something i've done since Oblivion.

i do a similar thing.
You probably haven`t played Morrowind, but in that you could totally bury `them`, so their body vanished. Same with any other body.

I wish that was in Skyrim.

I honor them. I "try" to arrange them so they are laid on their backs flat with their arms on their chest. Then ill "try" and place their sword on their chest, and if they had a shield I "try" and place that on their chest as well. I say try because usually I end up with some guy laying on his side with a sword stuck in his head and, well lets say you don't want to know where the shield is, before I say f it and just walk away.

I think I may give your idea a try. Sounds easier that way. Maybe lay their weapon and/or shield before a shine of Talos.

If a companion dies I usually just reload.

However, for some reason I feel the need to hide bodies. For example, I'll move bodies off major roads or paths in to taller grasses. If a fire is nearby I'll throw the bodies in to the fire to destroy the evidence. If a bridge or cliff is nearby I'll just toss them over the edge to "hide" them. I'm not a big roleplayer but I still like the sense that I'm covering my tracks, and leaving no evidence behind. Imagine that bandit coming back to his fort after leaving to find some food and everyone is gone, with no traces of the bodies.... just the occasional blood splatter.

Barbarossa had Ahtar the Jailor die at the hands of two Hagravens and a Forsworn Briarheart, so she put his Ebony armour with Dwarven helmet on the Mannequin in Proudspire manor. His Ebony Greatsword of Devouring on a plaque there too.

Somebody should make a mod where you'll meet your dead companions in Sovngarde :)

But to be on topic: I've only had one companion die, I let his body flow down the river and kept his sword and enchanted it so I could name it, then put it up in my house to always remember him by. I miss you Sven, you were the best flute player :D
