Why do you play opposite gender characters (if you do?)

I asked about this earlier and I don't think anyone responded. Why is it so weird if you're heterosixual yourself to play a hetero female in relationship with a man? I have no problem playing a male PC in a romance with a female, but a lot of guys keep saying they'll make a female character only if she's a lisbian. Just curious.

Possibly because, no matter how "in character" you're being, you still end up (especially if you're playing in 1st person) with a guy staring at you out of the screen saying things like "Hello, love." :)

(and that's ignoring the who shallow, "guys love lisbians" stereotype. :whistling: )

I play them because I have an idea for a roleplaying build and I create them, its different and I tie my characters together in their stories and they are not inky going to meet males now are they.
