Childrens voices?

I enjoy the variety of accents in the game. It gives the world a multi-cultural flavor. That said, I do not view Tamriel as a medieval or any other Earth culture or era world. North American accents seem no more modern or wrong to me than any other.

My first orc let his softer side show and played tag with the children of whiterun, the orphanage kids made me laugh a lot too when they are celebrating but I dont find their voices particularly annoying - just some of the dialogue like 'licking my fathers boots' makes me wish I played on pc for some certain mods.

I can deal with the voices better than I can their looks. Honestly they all look like twins to me. I took me forever to realize that the one girl in Whiterun was a Redguard. I mean really? She doesn't look anything like a Redguard, or either of her parents for that matter.

Seriously someone needs to make an image of all their faces side by side. Either sloppy modeling or the Milk Man in Skyrim has been awfully busy. No wonder the men in Skyrim make fun of milk drinkers.

That's the thing, though. Older cultures of Earth didn't sound like those same cultures do today. So our expectations are entirely bound up in this expectation (created by film and TV) that all things medieval involve British accents. And yes, they could have other "old-world" accents, but is that really the first thing that pops into your mind when you think medieval?

In medieval times there was no official English. English was a rogue, underground language spoken by 'natives' as opposed to the French speaking cultural elite who had conquered England. English today is a language so full of old french words because of these times, and I doubt most people could even guess at the meanings of 'English' words used at the time. This is why I don't associate the English language at all with medieval times. Latin is what I think of in terms of language. Maybe all fantasy accents should sound like Mario? (jk) Paarthurnax might agree?

I would love a game that was entirely in Middle English. Love. It.

They're supposed to annoy you! They're KIDS! Kids are pint sized jerks in real life and they say stupidly annoying, selfish and rude things in their irritatingly high pitched voices! I hate them!

Sorry.... still getting over my 'teacher's burnout'. 10 years teaching middle school math and science.

(the above is a JOKE, or is mostly a joke, kind of hate them, so relax parents of the thread)

But seriously. They do a fine job with the voice acting, and the lines they say are completely in tune with what kids say.
