All perks unlockable

the problem with your opinion is that the skills and perks were not implemented well.

my hybrid is more powerful than my specialized archetypes because of the uselessness of some skills and the redundancy of many perks. i'm not saying that many aren't good for rping, but, many of them do not actually add power to your character. the jack of all trades, master of none can be the MOST powerful character with the appropriate choices.

as well, i disagree with the replayability aspect of this game. i HAVE replayed it many times with basic characters and DiD runs and different characters on subsequent playthroughs does NOT create a new and different experience. only the style of combat. everything else is the same because of the lack of alternative methods and options.

if i wasn't able to create my current hybrid i would have quit skyrim.

the rping aspects of the game need to be actual IN-GAME mechanics and have funtional gameplay. not mindplay and imagination.

Skills and perks could need some tuning, they aren't perfect but they are a good starting point for future game to evolve on. The problem with the old ways thing worked was you as a player couldn't really do much about becoming a master of all trades unless you enforced strict limitations on yourself. Skyrim does give me this choice, I can become a jack of all trades or I can focus my character towards a specific playstyle. At end level it will be mine decisions that made the character what he is, not the game as only way to reach endgame is to level all skills. The beauty of Skyrim is that I can specialize my character a lot more in certain areas then previous games, and with the current perk and skill system I will take that over previous systems any day.

And when it comes to replaying Skyrim I agree that there isn't much change in the gameplay other then combat style, because quests will be the same, world will be the same and the only difference is your character, his build and how he is played. In previous games there wasn't really a point in playing a new person unless you wanted a different race. This is the main difference on Skyrim and previous games in terms of replayability. But since combat style is different my thief will most likely not be doing companion guild or focus on the mage guild, those I can save for a future character. And that character could be a warriormage of sorts, with a different background, different ideas on how and why he does what he does. I could do this in previous games also and I did, but once I reached maxlevel I always wondered why I just didn't use my first character all the time.
